there’s an archive of tons of palm shit floating around somewhere and some of
it is monochrome-friendly, gonna bump so I can find it
FreewarePalm had some good shit too but I think it died
also might be worth it to hit Palm’s site on the web archive back to around late ‘90s-early ‘00s and see if any of the freebies appeal to you

mono palms make great PIMs and fucking run forever, I keep an IBM WorkPad and a Tungsten T as my two main devices

dope wars

might have to look up some of the version numbers to make sure they're worth the effort of syncing over but I'm pretty sure there's some OS 3.x friendly shit in there, kind of hard to find that anymore

lol palm os
windows mobile was the real shit back then

If by “the real shit” you meant “total shit” I agree.

>got nostalgic
>picked up treo 680 from my old phones drawer
>remembered how i ran almost-half-life on palmos5 devices, using zquake and some weird hl1 "port" than ran on stock quake engine
>how i've got winmo later and there were even hacked little gimmicks like making os run software windowed
>how every platform had some kind of linux kernel loader
good times, pre-mainstream pdas/smartphones were such a nerd shitfest

Thanks senpai, i've been looking for some of this stuff for ages!
As a thank you I plotted this just for (You)

the hardware was generally better and CE was far more advanced but it came at a cost of being heavier and less stable, not to mention the interface tried a bit too hard to be what it never could be and thus was a little obtuse for what it was

Palm knew a PDA was never going to be a PC, and the result of that was an operating system more fit for an actual PDA use case that was also generally quite stable and intuitive, that could also do just as much as a CE box in most cases without needing the more expensive hardware

but both have advantages and disadvantages and that's why there's no excuse to limit yourself to exclusively either one of them, they're both pretty good

wait, are you driving the plotter with a Palm? or it's just a regular setup?
either way it sounds pretty kickass, hope that shit helps you get more life out of these things

I have an HP iPaq from the tail end of the PDA wave. It barely works anymore. The battery won't hold a charge and the rubberized coating is shedding plasticiser and becoming sticky and gross.

It's a plotter i've built in my free time for two years, prolly i can interface the palm with the arduino board and send some Gcode to it just for shits and giggles

>real shit

I agree.

Why would you do this and not buy a phone?

I've actually been meaning to get a PDA, it's just the wrong time of year for it. I drop my service when winter rolls around and start using my phone again when the snow goes away.

why would you worry about someone exploring/enjoying a piece of technology that isn’t the latest shiny reddit-approved toy

I can't sync my Palm M500 to my PC
I used to use a program which IIRC changes the type of DB in the desktop application but i can't recall the name
Any suggestion?

What PDA should I get? I figured a Newton would compliment my eMate 300 but I'm open to other suggestions

It's not an h2210/h2215, is it? Those rubber grips were absolute shit back in the day, too. I remember finding some knurled metal replacements on ebay, which were light-years ahead in quality compared to what HP put on their PDAs.

windows ce is better

they make new batteries on ebay

hp jornada 728

can you post a picture?

I fucking love old PDAs, I currently have a Palm TX right now.

ma nigga. i have pic related, a philips nino 200 and op pic

How to use Astrasoft keygen?
I use daily their Timetable application for my uni exams and having a way to skip the 5 second intro screen would be awesome

it doesn’t just run under Windows?
never tried it on my end

I hope you're using jlime linux on it loaded via haret.

is it Palm? I have a Sony Clie and I really like using the Palm Desktop application. I use it for all my day planning and calendaring

nec mobileproo 900c. It has actual USB and better CPU, unlike jornada.

its palm yes

it has no pocket office though

Depends which OS you use. 900c can be flashed with WinCE 3.1 and 4.0 NET ROMs.

yeah I'd recommend trying out the Palm Desktop. there's a calendar on your PC that you can edit and sync to the Palm device. you can also edit the calendar from the pda itself
