What are Jow Forums's essential Kodi addons?

Ah. I only use Plex as a media server and as a player on my TVs. I don't use pirated streams.

I'm surprised people still use Kodi since the advent of affordable online media (including free supported media such as PlutoTV and various aggregation programs) and even other forms of piracy such as TeaTV and ArconaiTV.

Current Kodi addons:

- Covenant
- Pyramid
- Neptune
- Genesis

There are various variants of these addons.

They are primarily focused on mainstream television and movies.

Is there an easy way to pipe kodi through a vpn that kill switches if vpn is dropped?

I have OSMC installed on a pi 3 and is great but i don't know what addons to use, I've been watching some stuff I've downloaded off my 1tb HDD, but id like to watch actual streams, OSMC is basically kodi so what are good addons? (If nobody replies ill just make a thread)

Use Kodi as a frontend for Plex. It's a much better player.

I have OSMC on a pi3 too.
I have it dual boot with lakka for emulators, and raspbian + moonlight for streaming steam games to it.
There's an addon that lets you switch which os you want from within any other OS

Why would anyone use Plex for home?

It has no add-ons, terrible paid subscription model, way less customization and it's closed source.

Covenant is all you need. If you also have a real-debrid account it is perfect.

Also super useful is the backup manager, in case SD card dies (a bit too likely on a Pi)

There is a decent Twitch Addon if gaming is your thing.

I heard the main developer gave up after cease and desist letters from right owners...
Has it been forked or another developer took the lead?

i'm using incursion right now, which is , i believe, a fork of covenant.

From my understanding Plex is for live transcoding media on a server for shitty devices that can't handle the full quality. Why would I bother when I could use Kodi, a program designed for being my personal custom Netflix, for playing videos on devices that are capable of my remuxes?

I only use incursion (fork of covenant), youtube (you can watch all your subscribed channels new videos continuously, which is great) and plexus to load acestream soccer streams.
