I have a chance to buy a EVGA - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 SC Gaming 8GB tomorrow at MSRP.

Is it worth it? Or should I wait? I currently don't have a graphics card at all.

Southern Cali.

depends if you'd be able to get a 1070 ti at some point for less. the 1080 isn't the best value but if you don't want to wait just go for it.

Hmm... If yoyu really need one now, go for it. If you can wait for another month or 2, the wait is probaly worth. There was a message from Nvidia that they have a huge stockpile of GPU's ready for release. Now I don't now if those are the new ones of old ones.

The crazy thing about it is that I probably can wait for the new cards, but the thing is that I asked this guy to hold it for me, and now I'm not sure lol.

honestly I think it comes down to what you would be willing to pay. odds are the new cards will have a higher msrp than the 10 series and if it's true they'll be dropping in a couple months then there's really no point in holding out for a 1070 ti

I want that 1080 tho

Can you save your money? It's possible prices will go down before september, or you could just buy it right now if you really want to.

I assume you're using it for gayems, what resolution and refresh rate do you play at?

You guys are convincing me.

1080p, but I am interested in either dual monitors or 4k.

>2yr old gpu
>Paying full price
Just no dude.

tfw this is the post that made me realize I shouldnt buy it.

by the way I have an i5 3570k if that will bottleneck my shit.

dual monitors? if you mean nvidia surround it's kind of garbage and really buggy, not really worth it. If you mean just having two monitors, you don't need a high end card for that. If you're only playing at 1080p a 1080 is overkill unless you're playing at 144hz+ or you're absolutely positive you want to move to 4k. Imo 4k isn't worth it, though.

>tfw no animegf

>Is it worth it?
read the sticky you stupid worthless piece of faggot shit
also
>buying the most overpriced GPU
>in the era of insanely overpriced GPU prices
kys yourself, please.

It would bottleneck the fuck out of your shit. Getting a 1080 for 1080p gaming is stupid, too.

I mean, you can play the "waiting" game, and get a RX 680 that will cost around $250, and have the same power as the GTX 1080.

I would wait for 1180 to buy a 1089

This or you wanna "future proof" which means maybe a 5-10 year holdout..

This is blatant retardation.. did your parents let a nigger drop you as a baby?

not before I buy the whole stock

Can you guys help me out? I have an i7 3770 16gm ram and currently using a borrowed 750ti to run things at 3440x1440. To tun things on this resolution and get 100fps (100hz monitor) the 1080 could cut it in low game settings or 1080ti? I have a corsair tx 550 so so it's better hold what? 3-6 months to get the new cards? Keep in mind a gtx 1080 goes for arround 700 us dollars or more where I live.

Thanks for any upcomming answers.
