If you're going to get windows, get Windows 10. It performs better and will probably be supported longer. Any of the 'cons' of Windows 10 are actually just cons of Windows itself, and if those matter to you, you're probably better off just not using Windows.

install gentoo

This.

Windows 10 wont support anything later than 6th gen intel afaik, Hardware will be limited going forward

Why use wangblows at all?

But that's wrong you fuckin mongrel.

lol wut

I like my gaems

Stop shitting up this board with your proprietary cancer.

Linuxbabbies should go back to plebbit too.
This is an apple board

unironically this
>eastcoast.hosting/Windows9/

my 8th gen i7 sure seems to be functioning

So it's basically what Jow Forumsbabbys wanted: Windows 7 with kernel improvements

What was wrong with 7's kernel and how did 8 fix it?

Get 10, but use Linux for EVERYTHING else.

Windows 2000.
No windows will ever be as comfy as it.

It was pigfat and needed to go on a diet, windows is still fucking pigfat

For desktop computers: Xubuntu
For laptops: [insert your fav distro colour here] + i3

If you absolutely need Windows (gaaayyyming) then get Windows 10. You can't play Sea of Thieves on Windows 7.

Have you tried it yourself? Is it actually good?

Windows 7, of course!

>This is an apple board
sad but true

>Sea of Thieves
and nothing of value was lost

Im still on win7 and have put off migrating to win10 because of the data collection that goes on in the background. Does blocking access to microsoft servers over the network really break the OS and how so?

High CPU usage by constantly trying to reach those servers.

First big update comes at the end of May, dude. PvP in SoT is legitimately good and fun and it provides different mechanics and skills from the boring, repetitive Battle Royale-type "competitive" games that have been infesting the gaming scene lately. This said, if gaming isn't a priority, Windows shouldn't even be considered to begin with.

Get Gold Windows XP.

What hardware are you installing it on?
Windows 7 is pretty much only getting security updates these days.

Windows update it’s broken in new windows 7 installations. It will get stuck in searching unless you manually download and apply patches and updates

Install POS Ready 2009

Depends for small business Windows 7 can be better because Windows 10 forces updates on you and your machine can get stuck at moments you don't want that to happen.
For shitposting and Netflix get a cheap tablet.
For games a console.
The era of pc's is kinda over.

Surely that's only on newer hardware like Ryzen and Coffee Lake?
I feel like people on github were on top of this with 1st gen Ryzen actually.
surely there will be tools to fix it for anything else that comes out until Win 7 stops getting security updates as well.

>For games a console.
Oh yeah I really want to play Vermintide 2 with a controller

It's not entirely broken, after about 12 hours of looking for updates, it will find them and begin installing them.

Sure, there are github patches but again, you have to get a list of updates that include windows 10 stuff and check every update you install to make sure you don’t install a “get windows 10” update by accident

Well I'm on Windows 7 now and that hasn't happened. There's two of them I think and I have the numbers written down along with that authenticity one. KB973380 or something.

Based Sadeem

I have no idea tbqh. Last time I saw a windows 7 guide was back before redstone2 launched.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they pushed more after that.

Anyway just get an image patcher and install. It should work and include updated drivers

>It performs better
Not in games it doesn't.

>and will probably be supported longer
Why did you feel the need to include a purely speculative point?

>Does blocking access to microsoft servers over the network really break the OS and how so?
It's just that it demonstrably doesn't work. Nor should anyone reasonably expect such tool to.

holy shit

8.1 Improves on 7 in almost every regard but is unpopular because of 8 metro memes.

Just fucking lol at that atrocious outlay.

/tread

This.

8.1 with Classic Shell is GOD TIER

Attached: eight point one.png (1174x898, 143K)

does that shit included the telemetry updates?

Get Linux and if you really wanna use win software get a vm

What about telemetry and hardware support? I'm not asking for hardware compatibility on my behalf so much.

Witnessed
>Get Linux
Would if there was a driver for my capture card.
>get a vm
I fear that won't work.

Windows (gr)8 is 8/8

GPT is not supported on Windows 7.

No idea. You can probably check the release page and make sure

Classic Shell is open source you stupid cucks.
Yes it is, you just have to convert your disks during setup.

Need to start banning idiots like you.

Windows 10. The longer you wait, the greater the learning curve once you DO switch.

>you just have to convert your disks during setup.
lol

no, get Linux instead.
