Why buy a whole case desktop when you can just buy a based Intel NUC?

NUCs nowadays can be very powerful. Even for VR and gaming with potent GPU.

I have one as my pfsense router atm but why would you want to use one of those little shits as a desktop?

I always get these for my mom. They just werk :^)

Most of Jow Forums is too poor to afford NUCs

Get Zotac, lower price same specs.
Or get an android box.

This.
Or a good ol' ThinkPad, hook it up with a monitor and kB/m.

Cooling. The only reason to buy a desktop case and fill it is thermal performance. 1Kg of metal on the CPU and 1Kg on the GPU pic related.

laptop + dock does the job

Eh, bad meme.

Just buy a Raspberry PI. It can do 95% of what that Intel shit can do for just a fraction of the price.

This. Raspian desktop user for years. Just works.

what a qt

I wonder if it's powerful enough to stream with these
>not stream videogames, but stream drawing

why buy nuc when you can build ryzen 2400g in inwin chopin and have 8 threads and gaming tier powerful gpu plus space for m.2 ssd and two 2.5" hdds?

it has two lan interfaces?
I got my pfsense in qotom box with 4 ports with intel NIC and passively cooled i5 for 200€

I got raspberry pi
its alright for nextcloud, but seriously that shit is weak as fuck

CUSTOMIZED

I like the modularity of a desktop. If the GPU dies, just buy a new one and stick it in. If I need more storage/redudancy, just stick in an extra hard drive.
is the size tradeoff really a big deal to anyone? if I have a desk big enough for actual work, I can easily fit a computer under it.

>inwin chopin
>iGPU

What's the point. They're bigger, they don't have a dGPU in them and cost more or about the same as the latest top of the line NUC, which is also way smaller.

So, that's cute, but not really better than the high-end NUCs and it costs about the same.

Intel paid shill thread.
Those shit never had any success outside some corporate fart sniffing commiefornians.
All people i know of just bought a cheap rpi instead of the jewntel shit.
Others made htpcs with upgradable parts and fm2 components.

they are much more powerful for the price

$80 chopin case with the psu
$80 mobo
$160 ryzen
------------
$320

the price where celeron NUCs start
and they are barebone without ram and ssd same as the build above

but this build allows you to play GTAV and BF4 on 60fps
allows you to run VMs and edit video and compile fast with 8 ryzen threads
and if you need storage you can put a lot of terrabytes in it along with ssd
and if you want to upgrade down the line and sell innards you can

its just overall better choice imo and nuc is for people throwing money away for office pc
why not just get all in one while you are at it?

Lc1400mi $39
2200g $99
Mobo $50
4gb ram $45
Cheap ssd $50
$280 and you have a full fledged desktop, fully upgradable and expandable.
I don't know if there will be a ryzen+vega successor to the ft3 platform.

you can go cheap components in chopin too
you got there $40 cheaper uglier case with only pro being space for dgpu that is not used
meh
would also trust less the psu in that case when its all in all $40 total

I'm waiting for ataribox to get released. It'll be 200$ initially which is pretty good, but I'm still waiting on the specs. If it turns out to be shit I'll just buy Mintbox Mini 2.

>Why buy a whole case desktop when you can just buy a based Intel NUC?
because I have not transitioned or started calling myself Shirley. I am heterosexual and male

Odroid xu4 here. 10 watts and does alright

I might buy pic related once I finish repairing my tv

Attached: ecs_mstx_2.jpg (602x339, 84K)

gunna have to spend a little more on the pajeets there intel

why do chinks need to indigogo? Prolly cost them 50 bux to make just put em on sale.

is this shit going to replace desktop PCs for normies?

Isn't worth it when you can get a laptop.

smartphones did that already.

Doesn't that CPU only support 4GB RAM?

>Small as it is but full like a sparrow
