Tfw just gave my friend's kids a netbook

>tfw just gave my friend's kids a netbook
>installed Debian with them and showed them how everything works
>talked to them about the history of computers and gave a basic rundown on how they work
>gave them the FYI on muh freedoms and showed them an RMS TED talk
how have you contributed to the future of free software today, Jow Forums?

I told idiots to install Gentoo.

>Netbook
You mean Chromebook?...

>formatted it and installed pirated windows 7

I've been thinking about this about having used Linux for a few years now.

I find Linux (at least Debian) so much easier to use than windows/osx. I feel like most people regard them as the user-friendly OSes though. But with Linux, if you're thinking "Man, I wish I could add this as a shortcut" or "I wish it had this specific functionality" you can get that to work, and pretty easily.

I say this because, if I had kids, I feel like it would be easier for them to learn how to use computers if they grew up around Linux, plus their knowledge of how computers + software work would be greater as well.

Thanks man, did you know I browsed Jow Forums too? Anyways, I deleted that partition and installed windows 10 because it's so much better and I can play mindcraft too. I don't know why you idiots use Linux, it's a joke of an operating system compared to windows 10. Add me on disord too man.

I've replaced all linux instances on company servers to windows server.
It's the ultimate contribution to free software I could think of. Making it die.

Sounds like you are just making more work for yourself as an administrator. Linux servers are fucking hassle free

I gave someone a Windows 7 x64 DVD.

>you are just making more work for yourself as an administrator
I need to protect my position at all costs. It's in my best interest.

>my friend's (my wife's boyfriend's) kids

seems like roleplaying, usually it's not up to a single person to change something as important as that, and no group of IT admins would agree to that

cuck lmao

>no group of IT admins
you mean two admins, me and my best buddy?
You know, not everyone works in international corporation.

I restored and installed ubuntu for my uncle. He kept looking at porn and clicking the obvious malware.exe crap. Now at least he'll be able to browse it for longer before a new format.

>yfw they will never remember this

He literally wiped it right after you left knowing he can't play games on it.

yeah, he is totally going to play all the games on a netbook if he replaces it with a diffrent os, right?

>get hired to fix a net book
>i reinstall windows 7
>start installing updates
>fuck this is taking long
>go do something else and check on it every couple hours
>11pm comes around and it's still not done
>go to sleep
>wake up
>it's still not done
>night comes again and it's almost done
>wake up the next day it's finally done

These things aren't meant to run Windows 7.

>daddy, user put this weird thing on my computer
>can you call him and make him get it off

You failed on the last point you massive autist

Not all but some. And some is still better than... that's right, none.

windows 7 update is bugged, you have to find a patch online first. After that you can update it

The next time you see it, its going to be covered in syrup and soda, and it will have a botnet russian cracked copy of windows 8.1, 11 different trojans, and a failed attempt to install minecraft server.

suggestions for lightweight FOSS games? the kids are 12 and 13. I would like to show them some games they can play, since it probably would make them use it more often

Super Tux Racer

you should've shown them that video of RMS trying to dance with that person in the gnu costume

>friend's kid

I'm not exactly an educator. I pretty much just tell my family/friends they're faggots for not using Linux.

>giving a networked camera to 12 and 13 year olds

Your friend and his child think you're a pedophile now. Good work.

Wouldn't the higher ups start noting some downtimes and fuckery with the servers and pin it down on the moment they went from linux to windows and the person that carried out that change (you)?

I'm female, friendo. I manage the cucking around here.

be careful you can't give things to strange kids

>friendo
I actually sort of believe you're female.

>>get hired to fix a net book

>wasting your only life on others
No, thank you

Please don't indoctrinate children with your "free software" religion.

And communism politics

nice close quads. I did actually give them a quick talk on communism and how it can be positively implemented.

There are plenty games that exist natively on loonix. Wake up, it's not 2006 anymore.

I convinced my friend to use Ubuntu rather then Debian.
As a Debian user, it was hard.

>Linux games
Bruh

did that really happen OP? or was it just fantasy you came up while lying in your cum stained sheets at night?

In the context of games popular with kids, Minecraft and Gmod run in Linux. I'm sure there's a bunch more but that's all I got off the top of my head right now. Also, emulators.

>games popular with kids
>Minecraft and Gmod
These are not the games kids play my man. You unironically need to educate yourself by visiting /v/ once in a while

Last time I checked only kids cared about those much, but I guess that if you want to go for the latest Fortnite/FNAF9999 memes then there you got me.
Also.

No thanks I can barely even make out what the threads are supposed to be about these days.

>firstborn starts school this fall
>got her a X220

>protonmail account

Dad, why Uncle Jim is such a freak?

>I hate my child so much that on a 7 year old laptop I installed bloated distribution
I hope she'll bring a nigger home
