Thoughts on eco-drive watches?

Most look like awful mallshitters.

The best watches money can buy

I like to think of it as an impressive improvement on an already impressive design

Hello /wt/
I want to get a new watch that meets the following criteria. What would you guys recommend?

>Digital face
>Radio reciever to automatically update time and DST
>Water resistant
>Displays the time in BIG numerals, clearly shows am/pm, displays the FULL date including day, month, year, and day of the week
>Can get used in reasonable condition for below $100

I currently have a casio pathfinder watch that almost meets all the above criteria, but it doesn't display the full date and triggers my autism.

Casio G-7700 (or G-7710 negative display)

You should buy a citizen promaster eco-drive

Fuck, nevermind. It isn't atomic.
Check out other G-shocks, I'm sure one will fit your criteria.

the m5610 has all that and you can pick one up for around $90 new.
It's also solar powered, if that's something you like.

thanks, this face design looks really good.
i'll look for a similar one with a radio receiver

Attached: screen.png (447x618, 245K)

that one also looks good, but it doesn't seem to display the year

i know it's a small thing, but i want something with the whole date+time

Do you have Alzheimer's or something?
But you are right, I fucked up.

user who bought the black tuna how are you liking it?

Attached: SBBN033.jpg (915x915, 216K)

You know what looks better than this and has superior technology? The citizen protester eco-drive

watchmaker lurking if anyone's got any questions

Vintage digital watches.
Yay or nay? and Why?

eco drives have serious inconsistency with their capacitors. Citizen had to come out and say that you need to keep the things under light every day. they can last 10-20 years on a single capacitor, but if the charge goes too low, they can quit in as little as a year.

check out Seiko kenetic if you're looking into self charging quartz

Where's the cheapest place to get some rodico putty?

not my area of experience, unfortunately

maybe Amazon if you want the cheapest? we buy from places like Juels Borel or Startime

Kinetics have the same issue with their capacitors.

Where do you get your ideas from?

but unlike ecodrives, Seiko caps can be changed easily. most of the ecodrives place their capacitors under a bridge that also serves as the train bridge, meaning you have to service the same thing just to change a faulty part. don't get me wrong, it make sense if the capacitor lasts for a normal service interval, but they fail so damn often

ideas? I'm not that sort of watchmaker. I haven't MADE a watch since school. I work in a repair center for an orj. I'm basically a watch mechanic

What even is this question? Are you asking from a stylistic, technological, or service standpoint?

Are there differences to the quality of mechanical quarts movements? Like, for example between a cheap $400 quarts watch and a $1000 quarts?

>quarts

How does one get a job repairing watches? Aside from "get a degree at a watchmaker school lel" that is.

>mechanical quarts movements

What the fuck kind of question is this you non ECO drive wearing fuck
It's just a fucking job you get the qualifications and apply for the job just like anywhere else what the fuck are you 15 years old or some shit what are you expecting as an answer
some shit you backwards ass hairline looking motherfucker are you slow or something?

You seem frustrated user. Tell us how you really feel.

A bit hurt inside desu

thanks

I feel like I'm better than everyone because of my citizen promaster eco-drive

Could you just answer? If you can.

Anyone know what watch this is?

Attached: IMG_5472.jpg (720x1004, 179K)

Do you have a higher res picture?

On the complete other end of the spectrum, there's a guy doing a spacewalk right now and I'm trying to get a screen grab of his watch.
youtube.com/watch?v=RtU_mdL2vBM

There is very little difference, technically speaking - quartz is quartz

Go into the water.

I saw it for a second, does not look very civilian whatever it is - did you get it?

How big is too big? This Breitling Skyracer split second chrono is 43.5x53x16 but it's big for a reason. Think I can pull it off on my 18cm/7" wrist? The lugs seem relatively curvy but I'm hesitant to drop the cash

Attached: 8DB41B513149D264E50D38663C9975CE.jpg (960x1171, 132K)

Anything above 38mm looks like shit on most everybody.

kek

>53mm lug to lug
YUGE.

Sorry about your shit taste.

Spoken like a true wristlet.

I have 8 inch wrists. Grow some taste.

Wearing 38mm on an 8" wrist must look like an M&M on a string.

>I'm insecure about my baby wrists

I wear 32mm vintage watches too. Fuck right off with your hilariously sized wrist clocks.

>I didn't bother reading the thread

> I wear 32mm vintage watches too.
> 8 inch wrist
You have similar tastes to pic related.

Attached: KJU.jpg (1024x806, 229K)

I think his wrists are much larger than 8 inches, user. He does have a few decent watches, but I'm not really a fan of his collection overall.

Heres a 42x50 on my wrist so i guess I'm pretty much fucked

My wife made me it our first Christmas together 5 years ago when we couldn't afford much. It means a lot to me. I never take it off

At least wear it on your other wrist, bracelets with watches are reddit tier disgusting.

Lol but then it's sitting next to my fitbit... /s

Just give the fitbit to your wife's son.

They all look like putrid ass, but the tech is breddy good, and the build quality probably is too.
Still. Putrid fucking ass.

Don’t be, tiny wrists.

Thanks for the info, I knew there had to be a catch.

I'm also sorry about your inability to read.

It’s ok too

No, it's not, but I'm proud that you're taking it in stride. Many people are distressed when they learn that they're retarded.

Here's a 43mm watch on my 6.7" wrist. Roast me pleb.

Attached: navitimer 2.png (921x413, 560K)

Sure thing

Looks like shit. That is all.

Glad you agree.

>Looks like shit. That is all.
Suuuuuuure it does.

I’m sorry you can’t read and you’re moms gay
I’m sorry you don’t have god tier taste in micro machines

Hey faggot, you're the one who asked.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure I was.

Which is better, a snap-on caseback or screw-down caseback? Here two very similar watches with these different types of caseback:
youtube.com/watch?v=xTpm8IpZ3yk
youtube.com/watch?v=iX1JdjAyfqc

Doesn't matter for dress watches. If you plan to take it in water screw down crown and screw down case back are nice but not strictly needed.

Which one is easier to change battery on?

Both about the same 2bh.

Do other /p/hags hang out in here?
Lots of similarities with watches and cameras.

Attached: image.jpg (3455x2342, 3.78M)

Would this be considered a good quality photo on /p/?

Some of them are more accurate and the crystal might last longer

Lads, where could I get a CITIZEN POCKET WATCH under 300 burgercoin in good condition ?
Already checked on Ebay and zen. What's your go to place looking for pocketshitters ?

Is 30-40 dollars a fair price for a service of a non expensive vintage automatic?
Any tips on polishing a case using sandpaper?

>mechanical quarts movements
what the fuck is a mechanical quartz movement?

I'm not sure I will buy any of these two though because they're both 41 mm diameter. Isn't that a little too big for a dress watch?

Thoughts on hour hand and minute hand thickness/width? Should they be the same or different?

He said quarts, not quartz. He probably means quarter minute repeater.

Is it better to buy a watch that is currently being manufactured than a watch that is no longer being manufactured, or does it not matter?

No. It’s gearfaggotry.
Funnily enough watches are all the worst parts about camera gearfaggotry without the creative side.

Richemont is buying back watches instead of making them cheaper

businessinsider.co.za/richemont-slumps-after-results-2018-5

200 910 000,00 Euro watches bought back
