Samsung s8

Oreo update made this phone faster and better. Why is this such an underrated phone that no one talks about on Jow Forums?
>Headphone jack
>Expandable storage
>Finally good software optimization

I use Renovate Ice on mine, but haven't updated to the latest yet.

I love the screen of the S8 so much
but I fell for the Moto G5+ meme and have to use it for a couple years now cause everything else would be stupid

kek, literally GOAT phone of 2017.

you can already get it for way below $500 right now

>Mediocre at best battery
We're talking about the Oreo update, so you post about the battery from launch (Nougat)? Good job.

Jow Forums hates Samsung for the software they put on phones.

Personally I love my S8. Actually the first Android phone for me that doesn't have any problems (had LG G4 with wifi, bluetooth and bootloop issues. Before only Windows phones which worked nicely)

Jow Forums doesn't even hate them for the software.

Jow Forums hates them because they're popular and by far the most common normie android phone. Further, many of these Jow Forums faggots who hate on samsung do so because they bought Samsung back in the early days with the S1-S5 era when they really sucked dicks.

S6 and beyond have only gotten better and better with each generation.

Alright, although the last Samsung device I've owned was the S5.
Not worldwide.
>he doesn't know about the S8 active
Not available worldwide. If you overpay your country's customs, everything is.

>not being an american

guess it sucks to suck.

This guy is a fucking idiot.
S3 and S4 were god tier phones, the s5 Through s7 were dogshit, and the s8 and s9 are great as well.

It sucks to not able to choose where you'll get born too.

S3 and S4 were fucking dog shit, you're full of shit. You probably were just in high school and wanted the hot shit, and at the time it was the S3 and S4.

S5 was meh, S6 was great, only real downside was the lack of mSD, which the S7 brought back.

I don't see how you can hate the S7 and love the S8 when they're super similar besides moving the finger print reader to the back.

here
I also thought that Samsung was shit before because the UI was fuck ugly. Just took a leap of faith because I got the S8 cheap from my workplace and the UI looked like it "matured".

The only thing that i hate about this phone is that useless "bixby" button and the samsung apps that you're "not supposed" delete.

>the s5 Through s7 were dogshit
Really? The S5 was bad? Say about the design what you wat, but it's the last Samsung flagship which was worth every penny.
gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s5-6033.php
These features without notch and glossy edge gimmicks for a price affordable to mere mortals will never be replicated by Samsung. It's also one of the most developer friendly devices to this day.

>which was worth every penny
$20 says you only think that because of the removable battery & mSD

S7 and up brought the mSD back, but you're never getting removable battery again, even LG wont touch that shit anymore.

I agree on the Bixby button. It would be nice if you could rebind it without rooting the phone. The Bixy feature (not that I would use it) isn't even available in my country.

I liked my s5 but it was nothing special. Screen was alright though

>$20 says you only think that because of the removable battery & mSD
I've already listed the reasons beside those.

>rebind it without rooting the phone
You can
bxActions doesn't require root, and from my experience there isn't any significant delay like you saw with some of the earlier remapping tools.

I just disabled it and forgot all about it

Didn't know that. I'll try it out. The button wouldn't be useless if you could give it some function.

Samsung released an update that allows you to disable to bixby button. There’s also 3rd party apps that let you change how it handles.

touchjizz
battery?
so much bloat
edge gimmick
extra samsung botnet

There should be better out there, it's almost iphone tier....

Is there a way to delete the samsung pre-installed apps (for email, phone, texting and so on) so I can substitute them for the ones to my liking?
Not just disabling them, I want the free space too

S8/9 are literally the best phones on the market.

>Can replace with any other launcher
>Using one rn and the battery lasts for days
>What is deleting/disabling
>What is the s8 active
>What is not accepting the ToS

lol fukin android P is already out
Enjoy your touchjizz cucklag

>look mom I said it again

S8 or pixel 2 xl?

and why not the Oneplus 6?

Why do you hate every product that competed with the current product you own

>Android updates
>Improve performance, optimise hardware, improve battery life
>Lasts 2-3 years
>Majority of users upgrade after 2 years on contract or outright

>iOS updates
>Slowly degrade phone, decreases performance and battery life, introduces issues and hardware bugs that are followed by the word "gate" for unknown reasons
>lasts 5 years
>Most people upgrade every second year

Hmm...

It has an fm radio too. I think I'll get it when it devalues a bit more.

My disdain for inferior permutations of Android released by Samsung on locked down hardware is only a reflection of my genuine concern that someone considering purchase of said hardware does not fully realize the constraints of the modifications that samsung has made.

Regardless of the superior hardware specifications, the Samsung handset will be behind in software and also be slower than comparable or even lesser parts due to the unoptimized bloated layer they insist on.

But it has the best screen in the industry when it released

oreo
>added false water detected reboot glitch
>broke gear vr
>broke 3rd party dex support
nothanks
it's just fine on nougat

There is hardly any difference. Notifications are a little different/betterish

>no micro sd slot

keep using that slanty eyed phone for slantyeyes.

i'll stick to my superior and faster to be updated Razer phone

My Nexus 5 had better battery life than your razor phone gets

>1440p screen

>good camera
>best speakers I've ever used on a phone

>official Lineage for all variants

Fuck else do you need

Buyer's remorse?

Attached: S80519-14463646.jpg (1440x6372, 1.08M)

As much as I loved my nexus 6, almost 5 years after release it's gone fucking retarded. Battery life has been diminished to shit too

nah .. had to edit it a few times because i this board kept chaning a word to based (dunno why) and i kept forgetting to add gigs to the expandable 256) ..

last one i said just fuck it .. he can realize how shit tier that nexus is.

S9 is infinitely better because it supports treble. S8 is going to die software-wise in a year or two.

>touchjizz is a launcher
Imagine being this much of a fucking brainlet.

Lads, s8 or OnePlus 5t

Both are the same price here - I'm big into custom development of firmware and I'm not convinced the s8 is very good for this but it looks like a better phone

For custom ROMs - 5t, no question. S8 doesn't have and won't get any custom ROMs. Stable custom ROMs, at least.

OnePlus 6

OnePlus has near stock android. But I’ve heard they are shitty with their software updates so you might fall behind security. Also chinkphone

For current gen smartphones, s9(yurp version) is unironically superior - it already has official LOS due to project treble.
All their phones since OP3 are on 8.1.

Are you 12 or new or both

>Are you 12 or new or both
nah .. i din't realize Jow Forums had fucked up so much posting that some words got auto replaced when used.

You post like a fucking kid on gamefaqs

>You post like a fucking kid on gamefaqs

and i don't give a fuck.

now go back to your shitus 5

It may not be popular here but I see everyone using them in Singapore, the bigger version at least.

>plenty of storage

Treble is a fucking godsend. Now I can pick phones based solely on their hardware specs and never worry about the shitty stock ROM.

Not that guy and I don't give a fuck about your gayzer phone kid.
Fact is you post like a fucking 12yo prick.
Go back to whatever gayming forum you were on.

Attached: asspain.jpg (490x373, 54K)

I genuinely don't even know why people care so much about updates when there is fucking nothing new on them. Nougat had the side by side apps gimmick. That's it. Nothing else even worth mentioning has happened since fucking jellybean.

...

>Using one rn and the battery lasts for days
What? A flagship which lasts for days? I don't think so.
>What is the s8 active
A model which isn't available worldwide, unless you are willing to overpay your country's customs for importing and shipping one.

Attached: 508_12.png (1080x1792, 106K)

>no one talks about Samsung
Yeah man, why samsung is such a niche manufacturer? I rarely see them in stores or people using them.…

Attached: umad.jpg (1024x1024, 115K)

Every time i join a new wifi or load an app the phone attempts to run location services.

Sometimes its just for a few seconds, other times it leaves it on.

Everything related to location services is disabled - how the fuck can i stop this bullshit?

the power of android hides some location bullshit in the bluetooth settings
you can disable location services in bluetooth settings

because there is s9 and a bixby button. Nobody in their right mind will use this phone. Also you can't unlock the bootloader. lmao

Ok thanks i had a look but didnt find anything are you able to show me a screenshot?

no

im liking mine, got a pretty decent vr setup with gear vr and some playstation move stuff i had lying around

Attached: DSC07267.jpg (1920x1080, 121K)

OP5T has the better user experience but the camera is potato tier. S8 has better screen and camera.

I fucked up hard by buying S9 Exynos version, can't get SD version due to not burger.

I freaking love the camera and screen but fucking battery life is garbage.

>I fucked up hard by buying S9 Exynos version
No, SD version has permanently locked bootloader and worse CPU performance.

In all seriousness, the Razer Phone is pretty comfy. When I bought it I got it for like 560 euros, which is fuckin' mint to me - I do think that 750 euros is a bit too much, not gonna lie.

Also Nexus phones are great but the non-expandable storage does peeve me. I have way too much music for it to fit on the Nexus if I would have one.

Honestly I just didn't want a bloated normie phone. Now that samshit is actually the most original compared to all the notch and no audio jack/sd card asslickers out there, and after purchasing an s8+, I have to agree it's a good phone.
The screen is also fucking amazing

>No, SD version has permanently locked bootloader
Don't really care since I have to use a lot of stuff that won't work under rooted or custom roms.
>CPU performance.
Anything that is greater than SD625 in performance is good for the average person.

I just happened to get this phone because a good deal at store.

>a lot of stuff that won't work under rooted or custom roms
Like what.

Pornhub

Electronic identification, bank app, university service apps that are used and a few stupid games that I can't let go.

Why would you use an app for a site.
All could be fooled by magisk.

>All could be fooled by magisk.
Nah I tried it my man, will not work.

>poor man's Note 8

Where?
On Amazon US the only ones below $550 are either refurbished or used.

No treble no buy

Went with an s9 instead

Don’t know what you’re talking about, I had both a Galaxy S and an S3. They were both incredible phones that really pushed boundaries at the time. That was back when Samsung could innovate. Pretty much everything since the S4 has been an iterative improvement rather than a radical re-design, and in some ways things have gotten worse (still no swappable batteries, S6 had the brilliant idea of pulling an iPhone and giving us no expandable storage so it really wasn’t that great)

I know /g is not a samsung fan, but I have loved the phone, it is by far one of the prettiest androids out there. Plus it doesn’t have that abomination known as a notch. My only real complaint was how expensive it was out the gate, but if you wait they go on sale all the time. I got one for $350 a while ago, and after I sold my old phone, only meant my out of pocket expense on it was $25. Great phone would buy again.

knox and bloat, I think.

Same conundrum here, at around the same price, I'd say the S8 is a better choice, but I also prefer stock android and ROM development ensures new versions of Android for long
The OP6 was kind of disappointing

get the fuck out

jesus christ, when will this meme die

Attached: new.jpg (1066x650, 105K)

Why would they block users with root? There's absolutely no reason to. I'm not posting a screenshot because pornhub blocks it and I don't want to mirror my screen just for that, but yeah, it works.

Attached: Screenshot_Interf_sist_20180519-125505.png (720x1280, 291K)

What does treble allow anyways mate?
