>"fiber optic is the future"

"fiber optic is the future"
It's not the future, it's the present.
>the cables are literally made by those fucking light up toys your dad used to buy you at disneyland or knotts
im black so i never felt this feeling before
fibre optic has been around forever
pretty much .
is the f word really necessary though?
And before that it was slivers of random copper wiring, whats your point?
same but not black
But what's weird is that most of us don't have it even though those things are cheap as fuck
>literally
They're made a little different but same basic concept
pslc.
ws/macrog/fiberopt/of.htm
>which one is faster? speed of light or electrons flowing in copper wire
gee i wonder
Sorry, I meant
> f*ber optic
/thread
last i checked, fibre-optic cables aren't a vacuum chamber
the 'speed of light' refers to the speed light travels /in a perfect vacuum/
you can't say just throw light speed out there when you aren't talking about a vacuum
Copper actually transmits electrons faster than fiber transmits photons, fiber is superior because of increased bandwith and less interference while also reaching farther.
you mean em wave, electrons move only hundreds of meters per second
And the past. As well as the future as far as I can see.
They aren't made of plastic and require precise sizing, in the order of microns, to be able to properly transfer data.
Why are so salty about nice cables that can give you good internet anyway?
>the cables that are responsible for 97% global communication traffic
I love a nice salty cable
based
The really weird thing about fiber optics is that
>you mean em wave
Of course - that's what transmits the data and the current after all. Electron drift is actually undesirable.
>"computers are the future"
>the chips are literally made by fucking sand your mom used to get stuck in her vagina at the beach
>light comes into my modem
>modem connects to router with copper wire
>router connects to pc with copper wire
When will we ascend into fiber ethernet, I wnt light particles to flow directly into my CPU for maximum speed
The speed of light is a universal constant you fuckwit
The only thing changes is the distances light goes through. Vacuum, light can freely bounce through walls and that's it. In a non vacuum, the light bounces on the gasses and on the walls
Your moms vagina is a datacenter
CPU can't handle light coz electricity is 1s and 0s whereas light is 3d
