Hello
It's Debian stable with CDE.

nani?
Is that actually KDE or just KWin? If it's KDE pls share themes.
There's a guy making threads shitting on XFCE, calling it xfeces. A veritable retard.
xfce boys
Qt guys. XFCE is still king DE
it's kde + lxqt-panel
theme is qtstep
there's a plasma version of the theme too, but it isn't as complete as the lxqt one (lxqt is actually more flexible than plasma to theme)

BAT=
I would but this is a desktop thread
BAT= means full
BAT+ means charging
BAT- means discharging
Just use a shitty thunder unicode when charging.
100% means full and if it is not connected its always discharging so both symbols are irrelevant.
Why does this trigger me so much anyway? holy shit
what was the random jpeg guy?
comfy but xfce doesnt work on my 3200x1800 screen because they dont have high dpi scaling :(
thx m8
is debian the new arch?
>Arch
A literal meme.
>Debian
An actually useful OS that is the basis for the largest, most widely used Linux distribution.
I don't know, looks like a close call.
using debian on a desktop is a meme as well
you said it yourself - it's a basis
It's like eating raw dough.
How is it a basis for a desktop? What are you on about, it wasn't picked as a basis for a distro because it couldn't work without one, but because it was stable and had a package management system the developers of the new OS found fit their need.
If it works without additions = it is not just a base for a desktop (wtf), it is a desktop. You don't even have to configure anything to get to a desktop, whereas in Arch you have to configure shit to even get to a desktop. Fucking retards.
What did he mean by this?
colors are overrated
degenerate
...
debian's desktops arent much different from arch ones ( pacman -S plasma/gnome/etc )
meanwhile ubuntu's gnome is quite different, and it also ships with properly configured fonts ootb, as well as propr. drivers and shit. Just pulling shit from upstream, assembling it and calling it a day is not enough, especially when dealing with retarded upstreams like gnome dev team.
you could fit 4 titlebars in these borders
I'm trying to figure out how to make dwm's xset title change with the date. I guess I need to run a script in the background that runs
`xset -name {date}` or whatever.
providing a loli because i know that's how some of you roll.
Anyways, what do you think. Under 450 packages, I'm only missing about 3 more big programs that I need for work. It might bump me up to maybe near 500, but that's still not too bad considering my previous distro was sitting on a little under 2700.
ikr
>ust pulling shit from upstream, assembling it and calling it a day is not enough, especially when dealing with retarded upstreams like gnome dev team.
Are you implying debian does this? I don't know too much about that shit, but just because they have properly configured fonts doesn't make debian less of a viable desktop distro. My point wasn't even related to DE's, it was related to how stable and usable the distro is to your every day person. And the fact of the matter, beyond a shadow of a doubt, is that debian, for all of it's faults with "outdated" packages, offers more to the average Joe than Arch.
Arch users like to go on about:
>It isn't that hard, just a few configs
>Works on my machine
>I've never had this problem
>Points out a vague issue they had with a different distro
But in the end, there is a reason why no distro that isn't explicitly aimed at "power users" uses Arch as a base. Not a single everyday distro. In that sense, it is not fair to refer to debian as the new arch. As they are completely different.
>five screens
>those specs
So what do you do on this apart from shitposting and jerking off to lolis?
I trade stock/currencies, run bots, and write a bunch of code no one will ever use. That kind of thing.
Finally, a machine with enough horsepower to display GNOME as the devs intended.
KDE Plasma is god tier and nothing even comes close when it comes to desktop environments, no need to post anything else. Far better than even any version of windows, macOS, android or anything.
I still use i3 because of easy workspace switching and configuring though, plus I'm already used to it.
>using gnome
a welcomed gentle kek.
>openbox > xfce > awesomeWM > dwm
I don't see myself going backwards. At this rate, by 2019, I probably won't even use a DE/WM anymore.
So come take a drink
and drown your sorrows
and all of our fears will be gone till tomorrow.
Have no regrets
and live for a day
in Nancy's harbor café
Good music choice, and that's a really sexy panel at the bottom. I used to hate KDE, but the rate that they are improving is remarkable, on top of that, at the rate GNOME devs are pissing me off, I'm very seriously considering dropping everything GTK related as much as I can.
nanoos/xfeces
You should change the Firefox menu bar to compact mode
GNOME is way better
4.13 does, 2x scale at least
Traps & Macs, name a more iconic duo

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Hello teenager
Almost as bad as any GNOME desktop.

Damn.
Using Debian anywhere is a meme.
CentOS is the way to go on servers.

Not surprised.
Some questions 'bout XFCE:
Is there a fix/patch to keep standalone window icon views? I don't like to have the same view ("tiles", small icons) on all the windows.
How can I increase the icon spacing grid on Thunar?
Is there any other "Control Panel" for XFCE?
Idon't like the default one.
> inb4 write your owns.
No. I don't have time for that, neither the knowledge.
And why the window decorations are separated from the "appeareance" applet?
Thanks in advice.
That pape it's so mid 00's.
i want to make a new desktop but im lazy and have no ideas
behold, the premier in DE real-estate maximization
there’s nothing gay about a girl with a p*nis
Post walls pls
What WM and bar are you using ?
Makes it even better, in fact.
What browser is that?
Guys, what would you put in your taskbar
I'd put
>battery
>date & time
>type of tiling mode
>desktop number
anything else im missing?
kys
Some launchers for commonly used programs?
>taskbar doesn't autohide
fucking kill yourselves
Yeah, if you're a fag.
firefox
Gash is for faggots.
God I love the gentoo logo
Arch's look gay to me.
Why are you guys so mean to me?
taskbars are bloat
Where do you read your audio, memory, temp and cpu data?
I know battery is read in /sys/class/power_supply
So are titlebars. Get rid of them.
> Those You-tube rips
Come on man, the screenfetch logo is the best thing about Arch.
Unironically the reason I started using it.
sounds good enough for me
it's all about the music and your mood
caring about more quality you can't hear anyways is retarded
Debian logo is far superior.
HAHHAHAHAH keep telling yourself that.

> caring about more quality you can't hear anyways is retarded

it might be but it makes moving windows easier and shows the full name of whatever is open
> I don't like to have the same view ("tiles", small icons) on all the windows.
Searched around, and there doesn't seem to be an option for this. Apparently it hasn't been implemented (going by 2013 posts) but I hope I'm wrong.
>How can I increase the icon spacing grid on Thunar?
Uncheck "compact mode" in view settings, if it's unchecked there's nothing you can do I think.
>Is there any other "Control Panel" for XFCE?
Don't think so, why don't you like it? What would you prefer it was like?
>And why the window decorations are separated from the "appeareance" applet?
Because window decorations are managed by your window manager, you can use XFCE with openbox (openbox would regulate them), so it makes sense for them to be apart. That and there are other WM specific options so they are separate.
this
it might be but it makes looking at useful data easier and show the name of whatever is open

What?
You don't have your favorite programs keybinded?
