NSA no longer "officially" works with NIST, or any other standards agency, but I know for a fact that an NSA agent was planted at a top position in the IETF (CFRG) until late 2017 despite multiple repeated accounts of "extreme carelessness" But that's not really the point. Point is that a willing top US officials and spooks can directly control terry by seeding his oracles, and because terry's off his meds he'd be inclined to believe them and take the orders to be from god himself.
Now it's mostly benign shit because it's random atm, but imagine if your program suddenly consistently told you things you could verify.
