no support for my hardware

Because I actually want to get shit done.

>BSD based
you mean BSD cucked

running openbsd on a netbook with i3 and urxvt
I can do less than on linux because a lot of software doesn't get ported
no, I don't have time to port them myself
yes, I might consider using it as a server OS over linux
no, I won't switch now, because I'd first have to check for compatibility and make a plan to reduce downtime

its boot messages are all scary and different :(

I am, user

posted in your last thread with the incest pic

i dont have the time for a third OS and all its eccentricities... debian on bare metal and windows VMs is enough for me.

only just considering BSD since i discovered it had another sound server OSS... the jack alsa pulse clusterfuck is really beginning to shit me

t. audio guy

i had a sensible chuckle

Openbsd is still good

No GPU support for my computers sadly.

OpenBSD doesn't have TRIM support.

Why should I? What would I gain over Linux?

Less bloated and better engineering so theoretically more secure.

Less features and less support so theoretically less vulnerabilities.

I would like to but I'm having a hard time setting up full disk encryption. I can't get it to find the boot partition.

You wouldn't say that if you've actual used it. It's just beautifully made compared to Linux. The init system is just so eligant and easy to use compared to systemd or runit.

systemd was written specifically because rc is fucking garbage, every single distro adopted it, nothing available for *BSD comes close to the functionality or ease of use of systemd, let alone the speed.

i keep forgetting you exist since i rarely use clover

you alwaus get 0-1 replies lmao its sad

NetBSD's ARM64 port is coming along nicely!

running FreeBSD on a 2009 netbook as a small server, just to fuck around

>pinebook
Holy shit. I own this piece of shit hardware and it comes with Ubuntu, which sucks. I'm so hyped to switch to any BSD. Preferably OpenBSD but NetBSD is good too.

because it's shit?

have some (You)s

>I can do less than on linux because a lot of software doesn't get ported
What are some of them?

why you no die?

Friendly reminder muh bloat is NOT AN ARGUMENT

I'm not a Unix guy. Grew up on MS-DOS variants.

openbsd can't handle special character input unless X is used, so useless when you need to go headless
granted, it's a corner case, but I'd rather harden linux than start messing with vconsole

other bsd are worse than linux so why bother

>openbsd
DEPRECATED

Still doesn't support my GPU.

this

Because I use susebuntu

can't even use 3 of its cores on netbsd.

I've actually used OpenBSD quite a bit.

I like it, but I find that Debian GNU/Linux is less hassle to use the tools I need to work with every day. Besides, it just werks. BSD is a good OS for servers and network appliances, but I don't think it would suite my needs as a daily driver on the old laptop.

Deprecated for desktop.

BSD is dying.

But I am you retard.
