op is a shit

I would betray any country to get rid of whitespace abuse in the west

you're not serious

the country doesn't matter. i'm fucking tired of all websites looking the same.

also, op screenshot is old. i don't see the problem

i hate websites that look so big even on normal laptop screens

someone make the chad and virgin template and make the japanese website chad

>I'm fucking tired of all websites looking the same.
They don't, regardless if you look at nip websites or western ones. How limited is your internet usage?

If you want to see web devs using a different set of botnet services, go see Chinese websites. They rarely rely on any the usual botnets you already know.

the fact that they dont waste almost no space is amazing

>botnet services
>usual botnet
wow great argument fagtron

Attached: trash_recycle_bin_garbage.png (256x256, 3K)

since half of the country uses internet explorer... yeah.

> fagtron
> not FagTron 3000
Subpar name-calling, user.

Tora no ana.

Why would they not ?
Since they can make anything using old html/php and probably faster than react / vue or whatever is the trend

>bloated shit with words everywhere
>awesome

it's literally just early-mid 2000s web design

Disgusting.
This is the equivalent as 2005 websites full of gifs and shitty font, with a fuckton of ads

Weblio dictionary.

Geocities still exists in Japan.

that font is super relaxing omg

How is this utterly boring ad wall "awesome"?

Do you really want this shit design back in the west? This shit looks like it's made for those awful CRT boxes or dumbphones.

Is this a reaction to my thread the other day asking if Japanese sites tracked their users as much as western ones?
This does look pretty cluttered, but it does still look a lot cleaner and organized with text instead of web 2.0 image buttons everywhere. For curiosity's sake, does this site have many background scripts running when you check with noscript? and are any of them linked to western businesses?

Interesting comparison

So are the Japanese all into Web 1.0 retro stuff or just generally hopeless?

Attached: 1394568486439.png (340x340, 54K)

that sure looks nice but i don't think most of their websites look like that.

This was posted the other day and I thought it was interesting.

Seems a tad broad to really say much, but how in the fuck do so many people in Japan not use computers? What the fuck do they do all day?

That's better than I thought for Japan.

I guess Level 1 and 2 are like web browser + MS Word usage and knowing the Windows start button with its settings, then?

nngroup.com/articles/computer-skill-levels/

> how in the fuck do so many people in Japan not use computers
Weird, isn't it? Almost everyone else that had some wealth LOVED computers and picked them up rapidly, learning english in the process if necessary.

> What the fuck do they do all day?
Among other things, trying to look busy at work until most coworkers are ready to leave.

Then... do stuff. They certainly aren't dating much either, or hanging out with their parents and grandparents, or other social life [loneliness is widespread in urban Japan].

All on average, of course.

I almost sure some wordpress idiot sold this setup for a bunch of idiot a decade ago and now too lazy to change their overpriced shit.

Fucking hell, Level 3 is not programmers and experienced sysadmins but people who can use a sort function in a file manager?

>cluttered as fuck with loads of images
>still loads faster than a "Minimal" design from the west

Notice anything?

isn't japan the only country that still overwhelmingly uses Yahoo search though?

>Notice anything?
They might have removed the GDPR compliance stuff from the non-UK websites, presumably to try and still maximally data kraken everyone else?

Reminds me of those 80s and 90s shopping magazines.

You'd be fucking AMAZED at how bad people are at computers. I am in the unfortunate position to talk to people all day, and it's weird how many people still don't know what the Start menu is. It's been standard for like 20 fucking years but they never heard of it. Windows? They don't know what they are. They don't know how to see which applications are running. Accidentally click a larger windows behind the one you're using? It might as well be lost in space - they will never find it or even understand that it is still open. I even had a person who never used the X to close any application. He restarted his whole computer instead. They don't understand the difference between things on their computer and things on the internet. If you ask them to open an application, they start googling it (if they can find Google).

Hell, people are even becoming too stupid to use smartphones.

glorious japan

based fisherman

Well there are people who are still alive who were born and raised before computers were a common thing.

Yeah, but they often have had their computers since the dawn of time and refuse to upgrade too, so it's weird that every time they use it, it's like the first time. Some sort of selective dementia.

Things like comiket are keeping Japan down. Like a typical weeb I do like going to comiket and just nerding out at all the content. The problem is since the money is at comiket there's very little incentive to make the content pure digital or even for most an addition to digital.

This makes for a behind times tech culture.

DLsite is older than Steam.

It's interesting how Japan is the most technologically advanced country in the world and yet their computers are 10 years behind

Phew. And I thought our classes back when were boring and useless and way too easy and slow even for our class members that never had a PC at home. They weren't so retarded that understanding that word has text style functions in the menu bar or a drop-down would take 4 x 55 minutes. I then thought they'd better also have explained the device manager or process manager or gone over more file types or something like that.

But I guess in the end people at least could do all you mentioned. So I guess that's something.

To be fair, I only deal with the worst of the worst. People who can use computers, follow written instructions or have any semblence of problem-solving skills will not seek out tech support.

It's like traveling back in time.

>What the fuck do they do all day?
Be cute.
Have you never watched a slice-of-life? The times they use computers in them you can count on your fingers.

> Things like comiket are keeping Japan down.
Not really. I think the remaining few social events are what keep half of nippon from committing sudoku right now.

But Japan is just extremely inflexible. It's not at all a prohibitive expense to also create and sell a digital copy. They just don't do it.

Same as selling shit abroads. The difficulty you have in getting some Japanese company to mail / transport anything is incomparably more annoying in relation to doing it with most other countries.

Looks like it is straight from 2005.

Japanese ads in general are more colorful and fun . I mean compare a shot like this to times square and while ads suck at least these are less likely to piss you off

Attached: Akihabara-Otaku-Culture-Edit-e1489210935512-830x450.jpg (830x450, 144K)

Although it's funny since their physical space is fucking limited. You'd think they'd embrace the shit outta digital at this point. That's the only thing I hate about Japan and was glad to be back in the US once vacation was over. Freedom to fucking stretch.

It's literally xda.

And here's the depression that is times square

Attached: Times_Square_1817492c.jpg (460x287, 71K)

Are you seriously comparing Akihabara to Times Square?

Stop wearing weaboo glasses. Akihibara is the only place that colorful. Go shopping in ginza and you will see its just as drab as the rest of the world

Have you ever bought something from a Japanese store?

Oh look what creeped on the front page

Just shows Japan's attitude towards technology

Attached: 1527608330967.jpg (640x840, 114K)

In his sorta defense, what other US city would do a colorful display like Akiba?

shota rape porn game from DLsite

Its not a "display", its adverts.

>You'd think they'd embrace the shit outta digital at this point.
That's what Korea does. Japan is stuck in the 80s.

Japanese office space and work conditions overall also seemed like trash to me, by developed nation standards.

And I'm not at all a fan of "disciplined" societies like that anyhow.
Regardless if it makes it easier to get into and out of trains, I much prefer people who are downhill biking and kids skateboarding and inline skating and all that.

Does anyone know how to go about registering .jp domains? Do you really need an address in Japan or can you just make it. Why do they not have whois protection?

Attached: 1525003660780.jpg (1366x2048, 250K)

why anyone would want to be like a country that still uses yahoo search and faxes are beyond me.

it's a display of adverts

When I can convince my bank I'm not attempting fraudulent purchases so they'll let me use my own damn money. I've bought both digital and imported physical things a number of times.

Canadian?

Attached: Screenshot-2018-5-29 【デジマート】楽器と音楽機材専門の検索&総合情報サイ (1423x4343, 2.63M)

No, I'm a burger. If I was Canadian I think I'd be too afraid to import half the things I do. Is getting cockblocked by your bank a common thing in leafland?

Don't be a weeb, man. Compare it to the Shibuya crossing instead.
Also, even if you're a weeb, Akiba sucks donkey dick compared to Nakano.

On /a/ there's a buyfag thread and there is always this one user complaining about "muh visa security" or something when its just down to their shitty Canadian banks not supporting the security thing the website uses.

While these websites have a very confusing layout, at least they work fine without bloaded javascript that is spread across a million domains.

>weaboo clusterfuck
>awesome
No

What'd you use for the web page screenshot user?

Very interesting
Story I've heard:
>new monitors arrive
>technicians take old monitor
>office lady shouts at technician
>"don't take it I have important files on desktop!"
Wtf are you talking about, weeb? English please.

Not them but its probably the one built into Firefox judging by the filename.

Built in firefox tools

screenshot --fullpage in the browser command line (shift+f2)

All that guy said was "comiket". His argument is stupid, but you're just as bad.

Nah in my web design class my teacher stressed. There will always be somebody that never been to you website and If don't know how to navigate in a instance they will leave. What we want is a time retention and repeat visitors. And if they don't know they way around they won't take the time to learn it. This is a cluttered mess designed to fill as screen real estate as possible. that forces you stay on the website to get anything out of it. This is design meant to force ads not functionality. so its bad design.

Comiket guy here. How is it stupid? It's just a massive showcase of their tech culture. They're unwilling to move all their content to digital.

Is nobody in the thread reading this graph properly? It shows Japan is actually HIGH in tech literacy in all categories EXCEPT "can't use computers" which probably basically equates to "doesn't use computers". It's saying there is a divide in japan where they are among the strongest tech countries while also retaining a population of people that outright avoid tech. This doesn't explain why they have web1.0 looking stuff AT ALL since they have LESS poor/terrible computer users than the other countries.

>it works in Pale Moon
How the fuck did I only just find out about this fucking hell. Increase 's Germany below Level 1 bar please.

a) you can buy official ebooks of doujins (see melonbooks, dlsite, booth)
b) how the hell is comiket, a small event compared proportionally to the rest of japan, vastly influencing how fast they adopt technology?

The general tech class was full so they stuck me in web design. I actually enjoyed it though.

It's the path of least resistance. The top techs in Japan don't have to work as hard since the country as a whole doesn't have a push to be as tech saavy as the rest of the world.

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comiket
>world's largest dōjinshi fair
By having this stance it has one of the largest culture influence in Japan. Have you been to Comiket? The place is fucking crawling with people. It's a fucking fire hazard.

>compared proportionally to the rest of japan
Please learn to read. According to your own link it had 550,000 attendees, including foreigners. Japan has a population of 127m. Its obviousness not representative of their tech culture as a whole.

>obviously

People go to comiket to go to comiket. Tons of extremely popular artists put their works on digital distribution sites or at least have it on mail order sites, but people still line up to get it at the big sight.

Fucking Webaboos.
