Then there were tons of issues with the crappy UI and its countless inconsistencies. Unfortunately, I was unable to customize the desktop environment and it felt like I didn't own my computer. The amount of ads in the start menu and file browser was really annoying, too. And every time there was an upgrade, I was forced to pause my work and reboot, which took ages, even on a super fast machine, for no apparent reason. I didn't have any control over the system and it also felt like I was being spied on the entire time. Really uncomfortable. The worst part about all this was that I had to pay for the whole experience. Truly disappointing. So glad to be back to Linux.

I just installed Windows 10 for the first time in a few years today. In a VM, of course.
And holy shit, I forgot how much of a cuck OS it is. From the installer which lets you toggle options like telemetry and baked-in ads from "cucked" to "slightly less cucked" (and also forces you to sit through an introduction by Cortana and begs you to log in to a Microsoft account), the way you're begged no less than 3 times to stick with Edge while trying to install a different browser, and of course, the forced updates. There's so much bloat and dumb shit installed by default it's ridiculous, with several programs having both a legacy version and a shitty new Win 10 version installed. The UI is such a fucking mess, too--I'm currently using KDE, which I consider to have a pretty cluttered and incoherent UI, but it's got nothing on how shitty Win 10's UI is. What a dreadful OS.

Windows thinks (and there may be some ground on that) that most of their userbase are brainlets that don't know arithmetic operators precedence. Therefore, on standard mode it works simply left to right with no precedence considerations, if you switch to scientific it works as it should.
I think the same policy applies to all windows products, make it for retards by default, allow enabling advanced options for the minority of non-retarded users.

It's not that bad. I bought a cheap 13.3" laptop with a N4200 and 4 GB RAM and 64 GB eMMC storage a few weeks ago. It also had a free M2 slot which fit a 256 GB stick nicely. Interestingly the exact same model was available in a 4GB RAM & 128 GB SSD option at the exact same price I paid for my model and the 256 GB stick. I installed GNU/Linux on the 256 GB drive and kept the Wintendo infestation on the 64 GB eMMC drive so I can set the BIOS to boot directly into Windows in case border control nazi demand that I allow them access to it.
To me Windows 10 seems just fine for browsing the web and watching videos and things like that. My biggest issue with it is that it can't do network audio which means no playing quality audio off my surround system. Bluetooth audio's also got a huge lag on Windows and it's really noticeable. And odd because Bluetooth audio works fine under GNU/Linux.
I haven't tried playing too much with it but to me it seems like I'll be able to use it to play music and videos on trains and things like that when I travel (so I don't have to unlock my encrypted GNU/Linux installation). Wouldn't want to use it for anything more than that, though.

That's a common issue that's related to the indexing system Windows uses, and it feels the need to reindex its fs every single time it has a major security update or feature upgrade. Most of the time you just wait it out. Though using DISM to restore health has solved most problems for me in the past.
Windows 10 was not made for Jow Forums. It was made for people who are illiterate of technology. While macOS was made for the same purpose, Windows was designed to hit as large a number of hardware configs as possible without requiring intense user input.
Most of the problems in Windows are in backwards compatibility with old Win32 stuff. If everything shifted onto .NET and the Windows Runtime 99% of issues would disappear. This appears to be the way Windows is evolving.

The latest Photoshop runs absolutely fine on Linux with WINE and Stream and thousands of games are available natively and sometimes run even better and faster than on Windows. The remaining games can in the vast majority of cases be run via Wine and its DXVK addition, which has made HUGE progress over the past year. Those games and applications which do not run via WINE, can be run in a VM with GPU passthrough.

I always find that I've much less to download, tweak and change when installing a Linux OS compared to Windows. Tweaking is for those with very personalized workflows like those pimped out window managers you see in desktop treads. Most mainstream distros have defaults that are more sane than their Windows counterparts.
