Yes, self-hosting solutions are primarily almost exclusively used by the enterprise/corporate world.

GitLab stands 0 chance of taking that audience away from GitHub/Microsoft. And it doesn't make much money at all. I mean Microsoft is already getting the corporate user base with their .NET stuff.

GitHub has an enterprise version too and it didn't prevent them from hemorraghing money.
