RS was dogshit, Megaupload was ten times better

rapidshit was the fucking worst, thank god mediafire picked their shit up after megaupload went under.
>paying to pirate
kys
Mediafire is fucking garbage now too
It is? What happened?
adware and malware out the ass and I think they want you to make accounts for stuff now, can't download shit you have uploaded in bulk without paying iirc
>game split to 40 parts
>part37.rar is corrupted
This was only huge in germany.
best download site was a german site called boerse.bz
RS is dogshit though. Same with all similar file sharing sites as they all have the same bullshit download/speed limit.
Why the fuck was this and megaupload so fucking huge? They were slow as fucking hell
Mediafire is way too underrated
Rapidshare was great if you had a DSL connection because you could change your IP freely, breaking the download limit.
Wasn't Rapidshare one of those sites that had a wait countdown that wouldn't go down unless you were focused on the window?
>jdownloader
My nigga
Who Zippyshare here
>when they used to have happy hour
>when you could get multiple days of premium membership from some magazine and you and your bro stole the cards of literally all stores selling them in your city
>when all och went to shit
>when you just said fuck it and got yourself a vpn to torrent
>when you realized google drive exists and we live in a time where a literal internet conglomerate is one of the biggest file sharing platforms ever
My reaction image only accounts for the first three, just think I am using a green wojak for the last two.
It still exists under another domain. Nothing compares to the original gulli board boerse though. Those were the times when you could just buy shit to pirate like a flashcart on amazon.
>Good
Rapidshare was never good.
oops wrong image
They paid the uploader for each download. Mediafire didn't.
It's crazy to think that the bullshit that direct download sites used to (and still) do can almost all be bypassed with Jdownloader now.
>try to download JAV or porn you want that only has obscure download links
>doesn't work on jdownloader
>will get fucking computer HIV if you visit those download sites
just what the fuck makes people use these fucking download sites
Yeah, but Jdownloader comes with it's own bullshit now. You are just shifting the crap from one place to another.
>tfw can afford the stuff you used to pirate
so this is adulthood huh
>he doesnt know
What happened? Did JDownloader came with something new?
I miss /rs/
>download part 1
>get new ip
>download part 2 without waiting
?
>Good times
>"is"
They were great for people trying to get help with games and updates, but they both had a very sinister side. People were paid based on downloads, so illegal piracy skyrocketed and re-directs and fake links became the norm.
Various entertainment industries wanted them shutdown for piracy, but also because they were stealing interest from shitty/slow as molasses streaming sites.
>buy shit to pirate
>>get new ip
This involved MAC spoofing and resetting the network for my ISP. It was too much of a pain in the ass to bother with.
>being too poor to pirate
>>>/rs/
>the rapidshare virgin
>the megaupload chad
>depfile link
>paid for lifetime MU memebership

Yeah it was replaced by something better.
>hotshare link
>here's your cracking tutorial with the crack download link included in the image bro
>Based pirate hoster
I still have some merchandise laying around, t-shirts and keychains
>you now remember /rs/
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as piracy, is in fact, unauthorized copying, or as I've recently taken to calling it, unauthorized sharing. Piracy is not the act of obtaining an unauthorized copy of a copyrighted work, but rather robbery or criminal violence at sea.
Many computer users make unauthorized copies every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the act which is widely performed today is often called piracy, and many of the people who do it are not aware that it is basically copying, and not stealing.
There really is a piracy, and some people are doing it, but it is just robbery at sea. Piracy is an act of theft: an action at sea in which goods are forcefully transferred from one ship to another. Piracy is important to be aware of, but unrelated to unauthorized copying; it can only function at sea. Piracy is normally not used in combination with unauthorized copying: the two acts are basically seperate. All the so-called piracy is really unauthorized copying.
popular shit was usually uploaded on multiple sites. i downloaded stuff in batch with jdownloader and if something was missing i looked for other sites. good thing i learned a bit of russian in school so i knew my way around their sites. problem was passwords but i used dictionary to break them.
Literally all music, movies and even video games I downloaded from Rapidshare were shit and I had to replace them with quality torrents. All of it! I'm glad it's over.
I never understood it, I didn't see post button there so did it just scan the boards for links?
file lockers are cancer, p2p is the future.
>paying to download shit
>mfw knew someone that paid $200 for megaupload's premium life time account
>megaupload was taken down the next day
I felt so sorry for them.
Absolute state of Jow Forums...
>that faggot who can't link directly to an image and you get a page filled with useless shit with a thumbnail of the image somewhere in the middle
>good times
I don't remember ever being able to mass download anything from that shit site because of the horrid speed limits and count down timer bullshit.
Rapidshare was huge because it was one of the first sites to popularize file hosting. I don't remember anything before RS.
this was way superior
could download at full speed on my fiber connection
Rapidshare was complete shit.
Zippyshare is much better
The good thing about it is that during it's peak, literally EVERYONE was hosting their stuff on mega, so if you had a premium account, you had access to fucking everything.
DDL was far superior to torrenting during those times. It's how I got the bulk of my collections. Now there's a billion shitty file hosts that arent worth the time so I have to play the private tracker game
>File on MyAirBridge
>Sorry, but all the free download spots are taken
>Takes 45 minutes to an hour for things less than half a gig
I can't believe Google Drive is actually one of the less BS Download Hosts.
please solve the riemann hypothesis.jpg
To find that rare JAV

>imageshack
>tinypic

I don't get this.
Wasn't this an attempt to stop it getting shut down?
anything that isnt
>gdrive
>mega
>zippyshare
or
>mediafire
these days is completely ignored by me
megaupload was were it was at
Clicknupload and openload are good.
this because of and ip resetting is common knowledge for germans, because thats how you get rid of the polizei trying to find your pics of little girls
I still avoid Google Drive and instead use Mega.
Something about using Google Drive to pirate stuff makes me feel uneasy
>pirate
Stop stealing.
>after 4 days you're finally at part 5
>link of part 5 is dead
>He didn't restart his router every download.
DDL is great again now with MEGA which is basically the same as Megaupload and Zippyshare which is also decent.
Rapidshit was horrible. People who didn't use Megaupload were paid shill fucks.
They didn't just call their CC company and cancel the buy? lmao
>RS
>Good times
LOL fuck that, I was always so happy whenever people posted MU/MF links over that crap.
/rs/, on the other hand, was amazing,
>This involved MAC spoofing
The Rapidshare server was in your LAN?
Who are you?
Imageshack was okay desu. The other two can rot in hell though.
Same. Whenever I want to change my IP, the ISP won't change it unless the device (router) the modem is connected to has a different MAC address. So I usually unplug the modem, change the router MAC, then reboot both
I found so much good shit browsing that.
I'd just like to interject
That's what we use in Russia.
they were based
xdcc bots were, are and will be the only way to share files.
Find the correct sekrit club with peers infiltrated inside torrent sekrit clubs.

seriously what the fuck
Remember downloading videos at 5.5 Kb/s on Kazaa? Good times.
BustyNurses.avi
this and it was too restrictive, megaupload was better
>paying a filehost to donwload
No U kys
You gotta remember at one time megaupload was making like $200M/year in profit from all the subscribers and ads from megavideo. That's enough money to payoff any celeb
Underrated post.
