Why flagship phones

Why do normies buy flagships? I got my Redmi 4 Prime really cheap and its really fast with LineageOS, kernel overclocked it to 2.2 ghz.

Battery lasts all day, i used to have flagships but their battery was shit

Just why

Attached: xiaomi-redmi-5.jpg (160x212, 12K)

because they have significant disposable income and they think that they are getting their money's worth

sage

Because they are normies.
They have life, jobs, money, anything.
They don't really care about flashing and tinkering with the kernel.
They probably tech illiterate anyway.

(Tho, in my local groups, most that own Redmi uses Nitrogen OS or MIUI EU including normies.)

And that's why most of normies buys Samsung phone or an iPhone. Because it just werks.

>Why do normies not want to buy some chink shit, that'll take 50 years to ship from Hong Kong.
>Not work the carriers in their country
>Require you to unlock the boot-loader and flash a custom rom/kernel, all to perform as well as last years flagships.
>Have to get approval from Google to run Google services
>Have a garbage camera
>And if their device breaks, basically throw it out because the hassle to get a warranty service, isn't worth the cost of the device
if you really took 5 seconds to think about your question, you'd get an answer to it. Now fuck off.

If they flash custom roms, they aren't normies.

I got an S7 Edge because I thought I would play games and emulators and shit. Turns out mobile games are shit and emulated games are usually shit without buttons, and nowadays I don't even spend enough time playing games to bother.

Yes, it wasn't a smart purchase. I won't be upgrading any time soon in order to get my money's worth, which is actually a bummer because phones are starting to actually innovate a bit with stuff like the vivo apex.

*snap*

>all to perform as well as last years flagships
Not the case anymore.

because most people have FRIENDS and they take pictures of themselves

Not true.
Normies don't even know what xda is. There is a special breed of greasy haired teenagers that find joy in spoonfeeding normies with this kind o stuff. They translate instruction to whatever forum normies can reach, post detailed step by step guides with screenshots and upload roms to shittiest hosting sites they can find just to get 1000 replies and haxxor rank on some obscure phpbb forum.

Luxury branding. Really the only lasting contribution Steve Jobs made. This is why Normies look down on Android phones/users; a bunch of nerds who give a fuck about specs.

>arrived in 2 weeks to shithole country
>works with basically all EU carriers
>came unlocked
>good camera
>previous phone had hw problem, sent back to china and got it back within 4 weeks

>I got my chinkphone really cheap and its really fast with pajeet custom rom

Because they're stupid.

Status and wealth signaling.
Why the fuck do you think 15 years old cunt will bawl their eyes out if they don't have the latest iPhone?
It's not for the piece of technology, it's for social status.

I'm still using my OnePlus One. It just werks

Specs don't matter when your OS is a buggy piece of trash.

The only reason I have a flagship(S9) is because of the camera.
I really like having a good camera with me all the time inside my phone that is even better that P&S cameras.

>even better that P&S cameras
I wouldn't go that far, although the camera for one is worth it. Not the full price, but worth it in itself.

Nobody cares, I'm sorry user that you can't get laid but an iPhone never would have changed that.

*snap*

I have a wife, we met on IRC, if you're a retard that aims at women that will judge you depending on your phone brand, you deserve a shit love live anyway.

For normies, a phone is a status tool.
Much like shoes, cars or watches.

It's really not as complex as you think. They go to their carriers; their carriers offer little else besides flagships; so they buy flagships. Period.

iPhone users the only ones who are heavily attached to their phones as status symbols. Most other people just buy what's available and non-terrible, and that happens to be the flagships that their carriers put in front of them.

If you start emulating again just buy a chink bluetooth controller. Ipega has some nice bt controllers

Nobody. Gives. A. Fuck. About. What. Phone. You. Own.

Talking. Like. A. Millennial. That. Does. Not. Know. How. Make. A. Proper. Argument. Does. Not. Make. You. Right.

Just Google "green bubble meme", you'll see what superficial kids think these days.

That's not a bad idea. I don't have much time or motivation to get into games these days but I'll look into it and maybe to back to playing some of my DS favourites.

I don't think the PS2 can be emulated on Android, can it?

It basically depend on user , if they want a good camera they cant settle on shit like redmi, and there aren't any phones with good camera and mid ranged chip ... if you want a good(maybe best in smartphones) you have to but flagship but as i said it totally depend on the user , so for a user like you, you are happy with overclocking a mid ranged chip but for users who are performance enthusiasts they want top tier shit like 835 and it only come in flagship phones

The best way is actually sticking with an older top tier model like i do with my Galaxy S4.
The camera is good enough for the shit i am doing with it, it has a replacable battery, can eat a micro SD card and has a pretty good screen and 3.5mmm headphone jack.
More is not needed.

My wife goes with a Xiaomi Redmi5 and is satisfied with it. Even the camera is good enough and she never complains about it:

190€ for this? I dont want to know who made this phone for such low price. Battery lasts for two days (~6hrs screen on time) no lags, everything works just as expected.

I got my Redmi 4 Pro with LineageOS preinstalled by the seller for 100 Euros last week, the cpu is clocked at 2.2 ghz so it's actually more of a SD626. Getting 10 hours of SOT

I don't know about PS2, but Dreamcast games run smoothly on my phone

>why do normies buy working functional phones
>why arne't normies buying shitty chinese phones, jailbreaking it, and installing a different OS to it that voids the warranty if it had any

Gee I don't know OP, why don't you stop being autistic for a day and think before you post.

Thread should've ended here.

>tiny 1/2.3" or 1/1.7" smartphone
>a good camera
fucking lel

I get flagships to handle psp Emulation and the more graphics intensive mobile games

>LineageOS
>overclocked
Normies don't care about this

My boss gave me an S8+ when they were new because he likes the work I do, I had some cheap chinkshit phone with pay as you go on it, so I just pulled my card and threw it in there.. now I look like I spent money on one. I disabled 90% of the extra features bullshit so I get a full day battery life easy.

You take the opinions false flaggers and brain dead twitter thots way to seriously. Nobody in real life cares. Try actually speaking with the people you think you know so much about.

>Superficial kids
>Opinions I give a fuck about.

Pick one.

He's disproving , it doesn't matter if you give a fuck, that post was factually incorrect.

The camera, mainly.

It's only if you consider normies and thots to be human beings is it factually incorrect.

Fuck me, I misquoted, but seems like you caught my drift anyway.

>instantly get replacement if anything wrong with phone at any apple store worldwide
>iOS easy to use and supplements RL instead of making tech your life
>high quality hardware

You know most of the "normies" you speak of also use Android, right? Possession of an iPhone means you are very likely to be a normalfag, but it is not required to be one. Hell, most normies I know don't even give a shit about the lack of updates on Android, because "oh that just makes the phone slow"

>4 weeks
Lol

We wouldn't actively say it but we do care

I can't send gifs, stickers and shit like that easily to you or facetime you then you obviously don't care about socialising enough to be worth my time

The truth is - they don't profit off of these devices. Perhaps profits will come from Mi 8 or comparable series. Xiaomi is willing to forego short-term profits for brand recognition in the future. It's all very interesting and there have been a few videos on this topic on YouTube.

>get two year plan
>choose flagship or chinkshit
Hmmm......

>plan

Attached: 34.jpg (546x424, 222K)

Who actually pays for plans anymore when you can just buy the phone up front. I've literally never been on a phone plan I always thought it was dumb.

Exactly but for some reason plenty of people enjoy being cucked by their provider.

True maybe I'm the only one here regret getting android flagship. I pay alot for Nexus lineup back in the day.

Exactly.
A plan is basically a loan, it's pathetic.

Why would you ever buy a phone you have to fiddle with? I need a phone that works and won't be a pain to use with my carrier. Flagship phones are cheap, they're literally one, maybe two paychecks even in an entry level position. If you budget the cost of a phone into your life you can buy a new iPhone or Samsung by saving 250 per year. That's peanuts.

Attached: 1522407754360.png (442x507, 355K)

Because the people on Jow Forums are autistic and use technology as their life, instead of to improve their life

>I need a phone that works and won't be a pain to use with my carrier.
Guess what, $100 chinkphones do this pretty well.

>I need a phone that works and won't be a pain to use
So... a 100 USD phone?
Like a chinkphone or something like a Samsung J3?
Until now, a 60 USD Windows Phone even did the trick.

I work on my phone for meeting, emails, etc all day long, and I do not NEED a phone that costs a paycheck.

at least get something with a decent soc and screen.
snapdildo 636 minimum.
amoled is a plus.

I want to buy Xiaomi phones but i can't buy anything that isn't from Sony

fuck

>i bought a fairly obscure chinkphone
>i installed twrp on it
>i installed lineage on it
>i installed a custom kernel on it
>i overclocked it

>why don't normies do this?

Attached: 1505220272754.png (2688x2688, 173K)

this.

because they're sheep

>overclocking phone
Did you install custom water loop as well?

Normies unironically think about their "status". If it isn't Apple or Samsung you're a disgusting poorfag. They know they could easily use any Pajeetphone for their normie needs (Facebook/Instagram/Whatsapp), but it's uncool to not use the newest iPhone/Gooksung Galaxy.

>there are people that sell phones they haven't finished paying for

Attached: 1431867098038.png (600x750, 596K)

or
>get a 2 year old flagship for the price of a mid-range chinkphone
>swap the battery
>install LineageOS if it's worth it
>you get a flagship-tier display, camera, speakers and all the bullshit gimmicks you can imagine
>no, a midrange chinkphone doesn't have better hardware than 2yo flagship unless you mean just CPU and RAM
>normies think you're a cool cat because have a flagship phone from a well known company with a pronounceable name

Nexus 4 user here since 2012. Even with the original battery, I get it to work and recharge it once a day. Camera works, phone works, Jow Forums works. Why would I need a new phone?

Open to answering questions.

Which Version? 15 is finally out but it seems official download site links to some shitty xda memery release

>They know they could easily use any Pajeetphone for their normie needs

no they don't, they are literally unaware that companies other than Samsung and Apple make cell phones.

You don't need a new phone, but you could use a new battery. Don't torture yourself with charging every day, user.

Using 14.1, waiting for a great Oreo build

You don't need a new one, just flash a custom rom and change battery, should be easy

Thanks for your input. Stock Android works fine, but I might try a new ROM and a new battery one of these days.

16gb?

Do you buy "flagship" CPUs/GPUs? Then you must know.

Yes, 8GB seemed too low back then (and from what I've seen among my friends, they have a bigger failure rate).

Because of cameras.
Redmi is good, but they gimp you on the camera, and shit like NFC and stuff, but who cares

I got one for 180$ a few months ago and it's great, gets even better if you install LineageOS.
Nowadays the difference between flagships and low-midrange phones is so small that there is absolutely no reason at all to spend over ~200$ on a mobile phone.
It may have made sense ~3 years ago, but not now.
99% of people, including Jow Forums-tier lit hackurz, won't need anything more than a current phone in that price range.

>why don't normies do this?
It's apparently too difficult, except everyone can connect USB cables and operate a custom recovery just like any other app.

>>no, a midrange chinkphone doesn't have better hardware than 2yo flagship unless you mean just CPU and RAM
But those are the only things that actually matter.

>but they gimp you on the camera
Not the version with Snapdragon 636 and dual cameras. Low light performance isn't up to par with flagship sensors, although it's performance can drastically be improved by using a ported Pixel camera app of all things.

Matter for what? Nothing more powerful than Snapdragon 625 is needed for current smartphone tasks. And as a matter of fact, most high ranking phones on GSMArena's battery test list are using the exact processor or 636. Emulators even perform well on it. What else could you possibly need?

camera, amoled and nfc for me personally

All the more reason to get a chinkphone.

Link?

pretty sure you need better cpu for 4k vids and slomo

But why bother with 4K videos on a phone if you don't have a ridiculously high resolution in the first place?

Was some guy in town who had a spare Redmi 4Prime, not off internet.

Pretty good deal right?

Literally sent it from a small town in the Balkans to China and sent back. A month is nothing. Got a new device
