You could replace the window manager with a tiling one or use one of the tiling scripts for kwin. I like this one github.com/Jazqa/kwin-quarter-tiling

You can right click and select "open containing folder" which will open the directory and highlight the file so you can open it in your viewer of choice. Or you can just do the easier thing and use the image preview.
