Is it the dev edition or the user edition?

>No Akanodi
>No Baloo
>No calculator
Why even call it DE?

>No Baloo
What is this Jungle Book bullshit?

reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it uses memory

>user@thinkpad
lmao

MATE is more stable, that's the only good point compared to KDE
overall MATE is shit anyway
the choice always as been between Xfce and KDE (special mention for Unity, but it's dead now)

>no calculator
Press Alt+Space :^)

>No Akanodi
>No Baloo
both in repos out of the box

Does it support fractional scaling??

>Unity
Holy moly they made it so ugly looking

Attached: img.png (3200x1800, 1.38M)

>memory consuption is by far the most importand thing about a DE

Yes, I switched to KDE because it's the only DE to do this. It supports any DPI you set in .Xresources. Here it is at 1.25 scaling (120dpi)

cauwfee-ya compilation*

Nice wallpaper

Still waiting for 18.04 rebase and plasma 5.13

This desu.

>Xfce
>Not dead

>install KDE neon user edition
>update
>still 12.x.x
Fuck off, KDE team!

Can we set different wallpapers on different workspaces like on kde4 now?
They said it was as designed... then they said they will fix this regresion...

Alright, Plasma finally updated.

>dev edition
into the bin

How to cop that transparency effect

Install plasma 5.13, enable transparency and blur in konsole

It's in user edition aleady

Attached: Screenshot_20180613_135612.png (844x543, 174K)

where can I get such nice wallpapers?

Can this be done on other terminals?

probably

It's a background from a kinetic novel called Highway Blossoms. I could probably dump every bg in /wg/ if you're interested.

>unironically using linux

does kwin still crash every time you start a full screen program

>unironically using wankblows

or just link to thread lol

>No calculator
Here we go with this bullshit again. Just a reminder - all of this started by discovering a demo iso of Kubuntu (I believe) didn't have a pre-installed calculator.

It shows low memory because it constantly access the disk for the rest of the DE
Save up for a new SSD soon.

They just don't care about granny

>unironically running mystery binaries on YOUR machine
lmao kys

Yeah, fascinating.

Which distro for best kde experience? Currently i'm on arch with xfce

Parabola.

most of the people are using webmail portails and the other are using thunderbird

there is no point of loading a mail service on startup in 2018

if so why not loading LibreOffice too ? Firefox ?

>mail, file indexing and calculator are available in KDE
>but wouldn't load until you want to use it, saving you ram usage
>for some reason this is bad

Attached: Because-Reasons.jpg (450x364, 31K)

Can you set different scaling for each display?

Those are not even installed, moron

probably kde neon

whats the KDE equivalent of macos spotlight?

and ? still available in discover

what font are you using?

Looks like IBM Plex all around.

that worked when I tried it, but I don't use Activities anymore

KRunner. Alt + Space by default. It's even better than Spotlight.

Does the browser integration allow firefox to finally use kdialog?

thank you

But why not include them by default, oh, because those are trash and unstable, so, showing a bloated KDE with 300+ ram is useless, better use XFCE witch is not afraid to include a calculator

That's some mental gymnastics.

>T. Butthurt KTard

youtu.be/C2kR1_n_d-g

They all run the same software assuming it's the same version, idiot.

>Not using Windows Pro

wtf is a kinetic novel? pls dump or provide a link

Does it have some knd of tiling mode? Or at least something to control windows completely with the keyboard?

>wtf is a kinetic novel?
Basically a visual novel but without the choices. Google isn't difficult, user.
I couldn't be bothered to solve over 50 captchas, so here's a to a zip with all bgs.
my.mixtape.moe/aywjlp.zip

File indexer.
Used fucktons of processing power in my ThinkPad, so I disabled it.

ubports guys picked the unity8 project up.
I persosnally think unity8 should be scrapped and someone should work on making unity again in qt.(no javascript this time plz)
I want to try doing that this summer but that would require me learning c++ and how to use qt.
Gtk has gone to shit and nobody wants to pick up support for gtk2 so i am kinda out of options.

>>No calculator
>not using speedcrunch

Neat

Apparently the kwin-tiling guy is retiring his script, claims he should have it working with current plasma in a week or two.
Also you can go full meme and replace kwin with i3.

rewriting*
that's what I get for phoneposting

Getting more tearing now or just me with 5.13?

lol, I like the concept of "going full meme"
What does that script exactly do? Mimic i3 in some way?

not him but

going full meme in this case is disabling kwin and running i3 instead as the window manager in a plasma session, it works but it can be tricky if you need to adjust shit like the taskbar for instance, was in my case anyhow, worked perfectly when everything was locked down tho

the kwin script isnt bad tho, i think theres even gaps as an option iirc

the tiling script simply adds some keybind options and automatically tiles windows for you

they made a big clock for granny's worn out eyes

Thanks for the info. And aside that, does KDE have some good keyboard controls? I like tiling WM to use them on my laptop without having to use the mouse, but If a non-tiling WM has full keyboard support I'd be down to try it

I might try KDE again then, I like how it looks but damn... all these menus and options are really overwhelming

I myself use KDE in dock, and i3 when not docked because why not, when im home i just use my mouse 90% of the time browsing etc so its fine and comfy

You can keybind pretty much everything in KDE so its up to you to customize how you see fit.

no, xorg only supports global scale factor but you can use xrandr --scale to change the resolution of displays

the recommended method is to set the DPI in your .Xresources for your highest DPI display and then use xrandr to scale other displays where things are too large

Kde Plasma with i3 as it's window manager = win

Use i3 as the window manager for kde

mite-b-good.
kwin is objectively the worst part of KDE.

>but If a non-tiling WM has full keyboard support I'd be down to try it
Kwin which is part of KDE supports full customization

Also a simple tick to enable a script such as tiling is all thats needed to turn that on and off

It's not a DE, but a distribution.

>But why not include them by default
because :
>those are trash and unstable, so, showing a bloated KDE with 300+ ram is useless
not installing useless and unstable software by default is bad because ...?
> better use XFCE witch is not afraid to include a calculator
enjoy your screen tearing and other 4 year old bugs

XFCE doesn't have a calculator, granny.

Unity 8 is qt, user.

And it also uses a bunch of javascript shit.

This. Install *BSD.

>yuri
ok ok i'll check out senpai

Look what KDE Plasma 5.13 did with my Firefox, it fixed the file picker.

>Active Window Controls widget
>Hide window titlebar when fullscreen
>Global Menu
>Dock panel on side or bottom
>All the other customizations

You can remake Unity in KDE pretty easily.

Hello fellow macaco.

Yeah 5px thumbnails, nice. They really fixed it

Does i3 integrate well with KDE (specially its panels)? Because with XFCE it doesn't.

Is there a way to have screen-specific workspaces (or "desktops" as they are called in KDE I think).
What I mean is:
I'm using two screens, which form a workspace instead of two separate ones. Is there a way to make workspaces screen-bound (or however you want to call it).
There's also a thing called "activities" which I'm not sure if is the same as "desktops" or not.
Sorry for my ignorance, I'm a KDE noob.

?*

I like it cept for the bloat and ive got screen tearing, blaming Nvidia for the latter

Attached: 56877567.jpg (1920x1080, 460K)

bloat is a social construct

I liked KDE, but I couldn't stand the amount of times the panels would freeze or kwin would crash.
It happened almost every time I opened VSCode.

Are you using i3 as the WM?
