I bought a Ryzen 2600 to replace my Intel 3770K.
Performance aside, my office dropped 3 degrees and my rear fan actually blows cold air.

I thought it was just a meme but I'll probably never buy Intel again.

3770 uses like 50W. It's not an AMD housefire. I have enough of them to know they don't appreciably raise the temp even encoding 24/7.

I just picked up a Pentium 133MHz, too.

Nice.

went from fx 8320 to xeon 1231v3 to r7 1700 to r5 2600X

don't regret the slightest thing

Neat.

w/e you say kiddo
enjoy your AC bill

The 3770K has a 77W TDP and the Ryzen 5 2600 has a 65W TDP. OP is also using a smaller fraction of total CPU power on the Ryzen so temps with the same workload would be even lower.

no it's not fair goyim

I actually think both of those chips are fine.
Stock heatsink on the 2600 is better than the stock heatsink on the 3770k though. ;)

why jump from the 1700 to the 2600X?
are you using the 1700 as a second computer?
I cant really figure out the practical benefit of doing this unless you got a new motherboard for the 2600x as the biggest improvements are locked to the newer chipset.

Nice try pajeet. Nobody is buying your housefire.

I replaced my 3570k with ryzen 1600 and finally got rid of my noisy CPU cooler.

Im stuck on a 2500k because i cant be fucked to upgrade to something that is not 75%+ faster for everything i do.

Do you shit in streets or your toilet speeds up the process by 75%? Hard to believe

What?, speak english pajeet.

I don't speak english pajeet, sorry.

My name is not sorry you son of goat

77w cpu with shitty underperforming "65w" cooler and 65w cpu with good and quiet 65w cooler. Really makes you think.

mine's inside and it's 22C ambient so guess that makes quite a bit difference

>Stock heatsink on the 2600 is better
that's fucking bullshit and you know it. I have no idea what kind of heatsink comes/came with the 3770k, though. What I do know is that both the 2400G and the 2600 come with a puny pathetic little piece of trash called "wraith stealth" and it's a piece of trash with no copper core or pipes that's got a clearly cheap and noisy cooler master fan (look at the bottom of it if you haven't, it's CM branded trash).

I have two of these heatsinks with fans, one never used with the stock toothpaste still on it. You can come pick those useless pieces of shit up for free if you want to verify all by yourself that they are garbage.

No idea why AMD even bothered to include that garbage with their CPUs. The wraith stealth is so bad and useless it has no right to exists.

It's worth noting that this really does cost you clocks. As an example, the 2400G has a "boost" speed of 3.9GHz. A long make -j6 job will boost all-core to 3.65 with the trash stock cooler. The huge arctic thing let's it "boost" to 3.85 on all cores for hours. Didn't even test with the 2600 when I built a rig for my nephew, just noted that it came with no usable cooler (the stealth) and bought a big one and put that on it.

Attached: amd_ryzen_wraith.jpg (730x411, 51K)

Have you ever used any of AMD's new coolers? I've got a 1700 at 3.7GHz on a Wraith Spire and it never reaches 75C and I never hear it even with the case open. Without overclocking the Stealth will do just fine, reviewers couldn't get it over 75C. Sucks they didn't use the Spire though, overclockers have to replace the stock cooler now.

Meanwhile, Intel's stock cooler is loud and can barely keep a 35W dual core from throttling under load, and the mounting system is made of cheap plastic that breaks easily. Intel's stock coolers are outclassed completely even by the cheapest chinkshit coolers on the market and they have been for years.

>Have you ever used any of AMD's new coolers?
yes, if you re-read what I wrote you'll see that I really have used the wraith stealth - which is why I know it's trash.

>reviewers couldn't get it over 75C
of course they couldn't, it throttles - again, I already pointed this out. Who fucking cares if a CPU doesn't go above 75C if it runs 2 GHz? In the case of the 2400G it's 3.6-3.65 on the stealth "cooler" vs 3.85 all-core with a real one. This APU/CPU will hit 70-72C with a non-cooler before dropping clocks so it's no wonder "it doesn't go above 75C".

I have two of these stealth "coolers", I've tested it, I know it's a useless piece of trash not usable for anything and no amount of retarded shill bullshit will change the simple fact that it's garbage. AMD should have either included the Spire with both the 2400G and 2600 or not bothered to include a cooler at all (which, in reality, is essentially the current situation).

>Intel's stock cooler is loud
as if the simple fact that Intel's coolers are a joke somehow makes AMDs inexcusable decision to ship the 2600 with a tiny garbage cooler better. It doesn't. Why Intel includes those coolers with their CPUs is a mystery, though. I don't know a single person who built an Intel rig who used the stock cooler - which isn't strange given that they are puny pathetic things with a loud as fuck fan.

Youve got it so wrong. People would rather spend money on a windowed case and leds before upgrading the cooler.

TIM will heat your room less than solder :^)

This. Intel was forward thinking enough to consider the comfort of the end user. TIM helps contain the heat so the end user doesn't have to endure it.

Parasitic capacitance goes down with decreasing temperature ( ~every 7-9C )

Voltage requirement goes down with decreasing temperature ( every 10-20C )

Power = Capacitance*Cores*Frequency*Voltage*Voltage

5.0ghz 1.341v 84C 229W ( These two should average about 265-270W if they were 5.2 but it ends up being ~280 watt but in reality it ends up being in the 280s range for 5.2 )

i think your computer is the least of your worries if your office is that hot

>I have no idea what kind of heatsink comes/came with the 3770k, though.
lol
pic related
all itnel chips including that one came with this piece of shit, which is, believe it or not, significantly shittier than even the wraith stealth (which is not good by any stretch of the imagination)

Stock cooler on the 3770k can't even handle boost mode either. CPU goes to like 95C. It's unbelievably bad.

It is indeed a throwaway cooler, similar to the stealth, but again, even less tolerable.

Attached: intel stock cooler.jpg (602x504, 40K)

I witnessed the same when upgrading from Athlon X2-6000 to Core i5-4590 three years ago.
The differences in temperature have to do with new architectures, not with brands, you mongoloid.
I'm pretty sure the cpu generations in 3-4 years will work at even lower temperatures.

Nowadays I have an i7-4790k and an i7-6770k in my two desktops, I can tell you the fans barely ever work.
A good case and a good cpu fan usually help a lot.

>6770k
>being an actual thing
