No they shouldn't. The problem with this is that when a critical security update is released for a common dependency of many end-user applications, you have to rely on the developers to update their applications individually.

People that don't use Linux solely because it doesn't have many games seem to forget that Linux doesn't have as many games as Windows does because not as many people use Linux. Avoiding Linux for that reason is only building on the problem.

I switched from windows to linux a few years ago because I like to be in control of what gets installed on my computer. I also like that if I ever get an error I can find out what happened and fix it, instead of windows' "something happened :("

weird, i use manjaro with i3, nautilus, pavu, and i3lock, and everything you mentioned works.

of course, i had to spend 30 minutes or so reading man pages, but it works.
