Both echo and printf are generally provided both by the shell and by coreutils as a binary (check /bin/echo)

It won't generate its own kernel config, so, by default, you'd get genkernel's config, which is sorta shit. And you'd need the EFI shit set to boot it as an EFI binary. And it also updates the grub shit "just in case". But sure.
