KDE masterrace checking in

omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/06/kde-plasma-5-13-release-video

Why the fuck aren't you using kde plasma? are you retarded? plasma 5.13 has insane blur effects and is fucking insanely stable. unironically the best linux desktop environment

Distro recommendations : kde neon, kubuntu, arch, opensuse, manjaro

>using a stock photo instead of screenfetch
yikes

Gnome just werks so I can't justify swapping.

Impatiently waiting for 5.13 on Manjaro.

I would definitely not call it "fucking insanely stable", though. Coming from xfce and i3 was quite a shock. It's definitely working well, though. Finally!

If you're not on ancient hardware, you can use plasma wayland. On my machine, it's working (for now).

>If you're not on ancient hardware
Or on Nvidia hardware, like any non-poorfag

It's bloated and trying to reduce the bloat breaks the system

If you are either of those you wouldn't be using Loonix

Everyone knows that Windows 10 brings underpowered hardware back to life, of course.

Here's your reply.

so, debian when? I'm on testing for this shiny new shit

Should I use KDE Neon? Or should I just grab Debian and install KDE? I'm not really a fan of Ubuntu. Will Debian Stable have the latest KDE Desktop?

it's embarrassing when you outdo apple and microsoft at making your os look like a tablet.

lol debian stable will have to wait a looong time to get 5.13. testing or sid if you really want to use debian. otherwise neon. 5.13 on neon released a couple of days ago, always gets the latest plasma updates first. though better wait for a couple of weeks since neon reportedly has a few bugs right now

what kind of bloat are you talking about?

>bloated
>uses less RAM than Xfce

>Why the fuck aren't you using kde plasma?
But I am.

Pretty sure it's just the usual "it's not minimalist therefore it's bloated" autism.

>using screenfetch instead of neofetch
major yikes

when is it coming to gentoo repos?

>using any kind of redditfetch
*snap*

>Why the fuck aren't you using kde plasma?
But I am. My IQ is 204 btw

What do I need an entire DE for? I just watch anime and use imageboards

>Using a camera
Arugably worse than a stock photo

But I am, made the switch a couple of days ago. Long time XFCE/Debian user, used to dismiss KDE out of hand, thanks to the shutshow that was KDE4. It's gonna take a while to get accustomed to zypper but it's worth it.

>Thumbnail view in Firefox (Kdialog)
>Dolphin has live-filter (Ctrl-I)
>Surprisingly smooth and responsive
>Looks good
>Blur in 5.13 although I might not use it
>Polar opposite of GNOME features (a bit too many desu)

It's over, KDE won.

Plasmas design philosophy is pretty much a windows 10 clone.

>anno domini 2018
>firefox still needs the opensuse patches for kdialog support
Thanks mozilla. I'm seriously considering moving to something c*Romium based.

Absolutely, same here. But I got so used to tree style tabs that I can't see myself switching. There was also the thing where uMatrix was supposedly less effective due to webextension restrictions in Chrime.

Nobody sane will use it, until it has tiling, full wayland support and a working browser

I am actually interessted in a laptop with that case, looks nice

Except Plasma 5 was released a whole year before Windows 10. Not to mention that it doesn't even have to resemble the default design, due to various theming capabilities.

search kde slimbook. it comes with neon preinstalled. don't buy first gen, get the second gen, it's rock solid

Here's your reply.

Also Plasma 5 is actually consistent unlike Win10

Its nice and all, but ive had 2 hard freezes the past 24 hours running KDE neon with 5.13, its not as stable as i hoped

haha loser

Fuck you kde shills. you do currently have the best desktop but the shilling is relentless. there is no reason why you have to make daily threads just talking about how "great" KDE is. window managers are much better than DE's anyway.

900 MB just for showing a wallpaper, the time and wifi status

I had to do a double take since I thought this was the jamaican flag.

>plasma 5.13 has insane blur effects
Precisely because of it.
Call me an assburger but I fucking hate time/resource wasting animations. I disable them on every single fucking thing that allows it.

Thank God andropoverty isn't locked down to the point where you cant disable animations (yet).

Feels good, my dude.

Waiting for the Backports PPA to update to 5.13. It's gonna take a while, but no need rush.
5.12 is solid.

how do i center my clock pls

use latte

Very buggy.

Mostly because I don't use Linux on the desktop. If I did, I'd be using KDE Plasma, as I did when I used Linux on my laptop.

>plasma 5.13 has insane blur effects
>Precisely because of it.
Those do not come already enabled.

thinking of trying out openpepe
heard there's easy 1 click installs for important stuff?

I would but I can’t get my trackpoint to be as fast as it is with just xorg, i3 and built-in kernel drivers. No matter how I tweak the awful mouse settings panel it just isn’t as good.

>FOSS
>shilling
You should know better. It's also no one else's but the developer's fault Gnome is at its current state.
>window managers are much better than DE's anyway
For underpowered, old hardware - definitely.

why did they have to rig the fucking votes to make the best mascot lose ;_;

>not using i3-gaps on a libreboot memepad

I want to fugg libbie.

Currently on Neon. Not bad at all. Blur really fucking insane shit. Simple thing but great improvment.

I heard webextensions are planned for falkon. Just saying...

Didn't know about that. Looks nice though.
