Ciao pastabro!
I use Vifm, I greatly prefer it over ranger.

you don't actually need mouse though, you can get by with keyboard only

This. If you file manager doesn't have a Wikipedia page, it's fucking garbage.

Windows Explorers from Windows 7 with QTTabBar (the one from QuizoApps). Simply the greatest.

>inb4 why not Clover instead?
I would use it had its installer were translated to english and if it weren't suspicious on including adware and even malware.

>hotkey-controllable
>can paste paths into title bar
>shift+rightclick adds "copy as path" option
>opens multiple windows by default
>can sort by all kinds of arbitrary characteristics
>supports drag and drop, even in relation to other programs
Explorer is genuinely one of the best file managers.

There is a two-pane file manager for *nix & bsd called Worker. It's god tier.

cool, find me a non human-readable hidden file that's 33 bytes in size has exactly 5 instances of the string "nigger faggot", there's only one, you have 3 seconds

That's not the function of a file manager, but of a scripting language with regex.

I'll use powershell.

>locating files is not the function of a file manager
>I-I don't need that
ok

Automation of monotonous system tasks is the function of a scripting language.

doesn't really count as a file manager but fzf makes life pretty easy.

Krusader is a split file browser like that, for linux
It can be installed standalone, but a certain DE uses it as well, i forget which one
I tried ranger before and I dont care for it, if you have old hardware or limited then its fine, it did work as advertised, but theres far more ergonomic options

what is findstr?
just stfu and go back to write fizzbuzz with python on your l33t h4xor editor

It looks cool.
Care to give a few use cases for it?

>I'll use powershell.

It's called Miller panes.

I use Ranger, fzf and helm projectile for "project based" file browsing.

github.com/junegunn/fzf

I mostly use it when i'm working on projects. i'll change into a git repository root directory, and then from there instead of looking for the file i want i'll just type vim $(fzf) and then start half-ass typing the file i want. it'll find it quickly. i could type 'srhaaacc' and it'll figure out 'src/handlers/accounts' from that, etc.

it's a good thing to use in conjunction with dmenu if you'd like to run a program with a certain file and you don't want to type the full path.

>i could type 'srhaaacc' and it'll figure out 'src/handlers/accounts' from that, etc.
That's pretty cool!

yep, i use fzf with dmenu to execute common tasks from a list of common tasks. good job user, me and you think alike

>ctrl-f “rov” no results
Rover is pretty good. Only has support for opening files in $EDITOR and $PAGER though. One of these days I’ll add support for opening images along with directory deletion.

fsn

How would you use it with (or instead of) find, or grep commands?

Bel color scheme pastafratello :^)

Attached: thicc-cat.jpg (999x837, 126K)

yeah it'll kind of tolerate some typos even I've found. Truly a fuzzy finder--good for finding while you're fuzzy.

I think I originally saw it as a gif in one of the desktop threads so I'm just paying homage to that better user with the more riced desktop. (pic related)

hmmmm. I suppose if you had a find/grep expression that did something like clean up .o's from a directory, but that directory changed from time to time, you could `find $(fzf) ... ` and then fuzzy type in the root project dir you want to evaluate from. (I haven't tried this but i don't see why not)

What a disgusting color scheme!

Ranger.

I don't even have GUI ones anymore.

If any other terminal file manager had image preview I would've dropped ranger instantly. Its so fucking slow.

Solarized fags fell for the biggest possible meme in computers. They somehow think light green on dark green gives better readability.

I like it.

It's not Solarize, it's a custom colour palette.

How do you use fzf with dmenu, I'm trying to visualize but i can't, what does the command looks like?

I am trying to adjust the image preview though but I like the directory preview it has.
