I had my windows auto updater turned off and my brother, who is a massive phaggot, turned them on and updated everything.... now it seems there is no way to turn them back off. Can anyone help me? How do I turn these damn things off???

Might want to revert the update if MS neutered the auto update disabler. Quick trip to google will tell you what to do.

Control panel > Windows Update > turn updates off / on in the left tab, done

Are you fucking stupid or something? I didn't even have to Google that but if you have to ask a question here, search the Internet first. That's the whole reason the Internet was invented and built, to share information, though originally for military purposes, its current purpose is the same. The internet is not for porn (despite what the song says) it's not for memes or Facebook it is for sharing information between parties. It's 2018 something so rudimentary should be common sense to look it up, Jow Forums is not your tech support underage summerfaggot.

>sharing your computer with your brother

confirmed underage get b& and v&

now fuck off and come back when you're over 18

I'm pretty sure people like OP are the main reason everyone shits on windows here.

But that's not at all how it works in an updated Win10 enviro. Now who's summer, you worthless tripfag

Technically OP did not state which OS he is using but for the majority of auto-updating Windoze systems that's how it is done, except for 10, by law of probability he is more likely to require the method I posted

boom

Is this legit? A program that will do it?

My brother is AWOL from the military and also has a restraining order from his ex gf. I let him stay here for a few days to try to convince him to turn himself in and while he was here he was a nuisance

It's windows 10 yeah

>10

well fuck, I stand corrected then, I'm allowed to be wrong

OP while you're digging around turning off updates might want to disable telemetry too.

>use NMAP to do inventory of our network on work PC that has Win10 running
>leave it running over night
>come back next morning
>fucker has restarted and aborted the search

Didnt you read eula that regular windows isnt designed to do any critical or long tasks? If you want to run program whole night, buy windows server edition.

Dude, we avoid installing on-off software on our servers. That's what we got normal PCs for.

It's not like NMAP is a critical task. We just restarted it the next day. But fuck if it isn't annoying and unpredictable. I thought Win10 had stopped doing this shit.

people like him are also the reason MS treats its userbase like retarded children and tries to prevent them from disabling updates.

>on/off software
I dont know. Sandboxing? Dockers? Virtualisation?

And no, w10 are only getting more and more aggressive with each iteration of updates. Whoever is the decision maker in MS, they decided that it is better to have broken updated system which randomly uninstall software + drivers + reset user and system settings than having NOT UPDATED (the horror!) working system.

My bet is that the group policies are next in line to be killed.

>they decided that it is better to have broken updated system which randomly uninstall software + drivers + reset user and system settings
Fuck, currently I need to re-kill startup delay every few updates because Microsoft keeps fucking with my settings.
One update a while ago also caused some of my programs (like Outlook) to open up automatically after a restart if I still had them open on shutdown, which meant that they opened twice if I had them in autostart.

Pajeetman is fucking killing the company.

go into services and disable the update service

This. Forced updates are exactly what windows needed to prevent dumbass shitstains like OP from clicking "later" for 2 years, getting infected, and blaming MS for "not fixing it."
Anyone that knows what they're doing already disabled auto updates on their own without ever needing to ask for help.

Not everyone is autistic enough to registry dive in order to find the correct key combination for this option. Most probably found it online.

Here's my solution user. You go download NTlite pro (cracked or not I don't care) and delete some services that might fuck up your windows (such as telemetry, cortana, and all the error reporting) as these have the ability to contact home and request more updates. And then you disable the windows update service from the program and not from windows. Never trust windows. Also make sure you don't delete anything you don't know as this could cause a broken windows and you might need to reinstall.

A better solution is to use an embedded version of 7 or 8. Then you can choose the components to install, just like a paid tool like NTlite does
