Mainly want to use a different swipe to unlock before pin lock resets. It's slow and I have my animations turned off. Bootloader is locked so no root or xposed

It is. But with more features. I like it. Very minimal, let's need disable the carat showing me to swipe up, disable search (both Google and app search), adjust icon and icon text size, set text to two lines for long names, force dark theme, disable animations, transparency. It's great I love it.

This allows you to force the pin/pattern dialog to auto appear when you open the lock screen but yeah no root you can't use this, and you can't do that without root, you're stuck.

The note 8 was highly rated so I upgraded from my Pixel and I don't regret it. It's a nice phone and I love Samsung pay! Nearly anywhere you can swipe a card you can use it and you get rewards just for using the industry's most convenient mobile payment platform. What's not to like?
