Looking for a bit of advice on new headphones. I mostly use it for vidya so I'd like it to be pretty good quality.

I want it to be fucking cozy if I have to wear that shit for hours.
>Past headphones
I had an AKG headphone but the top of it would split my hair and it'd get uncomfortable after awhile.
stax duh
I'll check out stax. Thanks fellow (((user)))
i like powerful but clean and deep basses so im stuck choosing between m40x or m50x. id go for the m50x but im on a tight budget. also, how long does these last? there is no record until now of a headphone that has lasted ne more than one year
what the fuck
Any options on Denon AH-D2000 upgrade?
Looking for comfy closed over ears. Good isolation nice but not hugely important. Will be using for vidya and music (mostly electronic & progressive metal). Budget up to £300 ($400). I'd like an all rounder with good clarity, and capable but not over-the-top bass.
Didnt see this new thread mb

>tfw PM-3s no longer made
What a shame these are best portable headphones. At least I have a pair.
they're ok
I don't want to spend half a thousand
The EL-8 are better and eggshell free
I actually own stax (unlike most stax kikes) and I'll recommend you try before you buy if you can.
>half a thousand
Try about 700
no you do not, lol why do you keep posting this shit so sad
You know it to be true.
What is "Idol trash"?
Post yours /hpg/
>post a picture with Shit planar and shittier dynamic drivers next to the god of Headphones

hey i'm looking for some good gaming headsets under 60$, good audio quality would be great but im mostly looking for a good price-quality relation
>Budget:under 60$

No gaming headsets kys
Then buy Superlux 668b's, then Stax after a few months saving
Is the Crack not supposed to come with both tubes?
yes it should come with both
How should I EQ my MDR-V6s?
HD569 according to Tyll at Innerfidelity
get para eq(eq APO windows choice) and a tone generator(foobar does it, you can also tone swipe with files)
set all fq to sound at same volume with equalizer or most comfortable volume of each fq for you
it's mostly about how you hear things, so neutral is different for eveyrone
It is also tedious, you'll have to switch between frequencies a lot to level them out
Hi Jow Forums, I'm looking for a new pair of headphones, will you consider helping me out?

Comfortable enough, as long as it doesn't compromise audio quality
>Sound signature
I want to use them for gaming, music and movies, so I want a relatively balanced sound. Something that respects the original audio source without adding any artificial dirtness.
>Past headphones
Phillips SHP1900
So are there any portable battery-powered DAC/amp combos in existence that don't suck? I'd leap for the FiiO A5 if I didn't need a DAC, but every single DAC/amp I've looked at so far either has some kind of flaw, is overpriced, or, because audiophiles, is both.
user, what's your setup like? Idol trash here.

>I'm smart and I know good headphones are long time purchases

Sennheiser HD600.
Yup, with Stax you have to pay out the ass to get any semblance of aesthetics.
My local Amazon has the HD599 at a price that is still below the €200 hard limit. Should I go for it?
Way too far over my budget limit.
Sennheiser HD 599?
I can go for these.
let me give you advice for future, when you will want something more than 599 do not get it.
it gets only very sightly better for every $100 you spend
Takstar Pro 82, or Creative Aurvana Live! maybe
gaming headsets are shit, just buy a cheap mic under $20 with your headphones.
It's my first pair of "audiophile" headphones, I'm just looking for something that has better quality than most headphones and at the same time is great for gaming and music (so no gaming headsets).
>budget
$150, can maybe go up to $200 if necessary

closed because it'll mainly be used on buses, cars, and sometimes at home

Comfy would be nice, but i just need em to not hurt.
>sound signature
Not sure, neutral maybe? I listen to death metal and its various subgenres plus a pinch of black metal
>past headphones
Audio Technica ATH-AD700X, Hifiman re400 Waterline
I love the 700x though the bass is light, and the re400 are okay I guess, but they broke.
>It's my first pair of "audiophile"
make it the last. seriously. 600s if you'd feel you really want to, nothing else.
is there anything that is as comfy and isolates better than the dt770 for under $200?
I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.
I used to think I would stop at the HD600.
they are not fit for 10+h use, headaches from terrible fit will kill you
guys I have a choice between M50X and MDR 7506, what should I buy and why?
Anything but the m50x because they're an overpriced meme.
If you have an absolute need for the m50x, get the m40x (but this is still not recommended). The price difference between 40 and 50 isn't worth it at all.
For portable use?
yes, I had 2 experiences with Sony headphones/earphones and both time I came to conclusion that Sonys are overpriced.
Yes, I'm tired of earphones
???
m40x and m50x are from Audio Technica. Does Sony own AT.
Also, all headphones are overpriced. It's just a matter of how much.
Also, this is obvious, but get closed-back headphones.
Ah, I wanted to say "but I had experiences with Sony..."
Also why closed-back? for noise-canceling?
Is it normal for pads to get loose if you take them off and put them back on again?
>ad500x
Why are people suggesting AD500X nowadays? Did it got better or something? Or is it just within a certain price range?
Last time i checked (a long time ago) it was AD900X, DT880, K702 and HD600.
Welp, need to contact their customer service. Only got one.
>My local Amazon has the HD599 at a price that is still below the €200 hard limit. Should I go for it?
No. HD579 is better. Not just better value for the money, but straight up better.
If in doubt, look up reviews. HD599 is flawed (loses its shit when bass hits, distorting all over), HD579 is not.
Yes. I got both.
>nothing worth it above HD599
That's straight up wrong.
HD600 outclasses every HD5xx
buy stax
Bullshit. 600's are clearly better.

Not all amps sound the same.
>Even if I finish my crack today (I will) I couldn't even use it thanks to the missing tube
Was it easy to build?
I have had my crack for a week. I have managed to put wood inserts into lil' blocks of wood for the speaker spikes. Have no glued them into place yet. Need to order some things.
HPG please help me. I need a pair of headphones with these two features being the ONLY requirements:
1. (EFFECTIVE) noise cancelling
2. Over the ear
3.Wireless
pls respond
I'm currently at the soldering phase, but I assembled it piss drunk. That should show how easy it was to at least assemble it.
I'm saving all chassis work until the end.

>(EFFECTIVE) noise cancelling
no such thing
It's easy. Just get some cheap kits and play with it. youtube.com
Just look up tutorials on how to solder.
I'm pretty sure you're covered in the stax(less) shills
don't listen to , he's literally just listening random ass headphones in that price range with no consideration for what you're doing with them.
If I was you would get the Beyerdyanmic DT880 32 ohm (DO NOT BUY THE 600 OHM EDITION!) edition as you probably don't have enough money to buy the HD600 and an amplifier to power it. You literally can't go wrong with the Beyerdynamic.
HD579 = shit
AD500X and K702 are highly decisive phones that most people would hate due to their annoyingly loud treble and recessed bass, only buy these if you're a competitive gaymen faggot or you only listen to classical music
Fidelio X2 is potentially a good choice but it's more of a fun phone rather than a serious critical listening phone, its bass and treble is louder than the midrange.
if in doubt, just use this guide. The Takstar Pro 82 and SHP9500S (which may be overpriced in your country) regulary gets praised above half of the headphones he listed
Is this fake or dose argon user have stax?
>Calling M40x a scam
Do not listen to this shitposter.
>K702 annoyingly loud treble and recessed bass
Buy a better amp.
What would be a good direct upgrade to soundmagic hp150?
Is this true. Bass>treble
youtube.com
>t. has never heard the pro 82
I sold my m40x the same day I got my pro 82, the pro 82 is 2x as comfortable and half as expensive AND it sounds better.
idiot placebophile audiophool.

>a fun phone rather than a serious critical listening phone, its bass and treble is louder than the midrange.
I still do not understand how is missing MOST of the track considered fun.
