They're collecting pretty much all traffic going through US soil, working closely with AT&T, monitoring calls, SMS, emails, chats, internet traffic, anything they can get their dirty little monkey paws on. theintercept.com/2018/06/25/att-internet-nsa-spy-hubs
What do you mean didn't listen? Snowden literally told us that there were loads of NSA data centres collecting all this data. Although during his leak he didn't warn us about 8 simply because there weren't that many at the time.
Hunter Hall
Bullshit. The NSA has 8 fake targets so the real shit can't get attacked but we can manufacture a false flag attack.
Liam Roberts
Sure the NSA can collect the data but they don't have the manpower to go through all that data at once. It virtually sit there untouched until they have a reason to go look at it. Capturing the internet is a ridiculous undertaking
Jose Mitchell
>implying I can stop NSA from building bigass data centers simply by listening
Samuel Ross
There is one here in town not to far away. There is nothing I can do.

And what would listening have done then genius?
Noah Watson
the NSA is a foreign intelligence agency. they had a recent massive data purge you can read about on their website because US person information was improperly included. they're in full accordance with the constitution
FBI is the domestic intelligence agency that spies on US persons but that doesn't seem to click in anyone's head
Christopher Brooks
No

This. Only thing the average citizen can do is vote but democracy works by doing what the majority vote for and the majority of voters don't fucking care, worse yet they'll vote against their own interests because they've been told it's "good for the country".
It always feels shitty when I hear my coworkers talking about how fucking stupid the government is for wanting to provide things to its citizens.
Brayden Collins
so what if they're monitoring a country size fire hose of data. what possible meaning or signal could they be trying to get out of it besides obvious shit like terrorism. the NSA just sounds like compulsive data hoarders smug about having your info but not really getting any benefit or insight from it.
Jackson Harris
The idea is that they keep a permanent record of everyone and can look up someones record if they need to. They're not doing any real-time monitoring it's more along the lines of "We need more dirt on this guy, look up everything he's done and everyone he's had contact with."
If they actually did real-time monitoring there wouldn't be school shootings every second week.
Well I should fucking hope so, what else do we pay em for? Wahhhh, muh dataaaaa, it has zero effect on my daily life besides preserving the ground beneath my feet from becoming a smoking nuclear wasteland BUT THEY B STEALIN MUH DATAAAAAAAA REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE You people are so fucking myopic.
Liam Russell
Unless you're a POI trying to do harm to the US or its allies...Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Amazon, Cloudflare, Apple, among others are far more dangerous than the NSA.
>The data center is alleged to be able to process "all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Internet searches, as well as all types of personal data trails— parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital 'pocket litter' Why am I not surprised?
Yup, these companies actually have plans for your information, whereas the NSA just lets it sit there collecting dust.

I always scoffed at the "just don't vote" thing, until i realized how much dignity I'm sacrificing for no gain just to let them toy with me. These days the only problem is automated payroll systems that deduct taxes. But give it another ten years and people will ditch all that and stop paying income taxes altogether, hopefully.
Isaac Torres
>the """""public""""" sucks... yeah, that must be it How is it not IT? Who oposses your wonderful "patriot" act and its consequences which led to all this? Who treated Snowden and various whistle-blowers like traitors?

You still need flesh and blood to get signal through the massive noise.
The biggest problem for intelligence agencies is that signal to noise ratio is at a low-time low. There's so much useless BS and false leads out on the public networks.
Kevin Gomez
>simply because there weren't that many at the time.

No shit, and it's a good thing too. We need to keep an eye on the fucking niggers and muslims.
>manpower to go through all that data >he thinks this shit isn't automated lmao, I work in finance and we have NSA tier surveillance systems to make sure the traders aren't doing anything fishy, we literally record everything and we analyse everything including shit like tone of voice. It's all automated and sends alerts to managers if something dodgy is going on.
this is all with a small team and a few servers, I'm pretty sure the NSA has more advanced systems in place to go through all their data.
Elijah Russell
I like literally don't fucking care anymore. I'm more concerned about operations started by other agencies that went awry than what they do

Hi NSA! Hows it going? Im sure whoever is reading through this is just some intern who's just taking advantage of any oppurtunity they can for experience, so I hope school goes well and that you can find a job where your superiors aren't big brother soon. And if it is the higher-ups reading this, I appreciate that you are concerned for my safety, but Im honestly okay! No one can hurt me through the internet, and if they can its likely my own fault and not your territory anyways. Thanks for listening! Hope to hear good things from you soon!

If they work for an investment bank they are 100% being monitored.
these guys gamble millions every day and a rogue trader can take down the entire bank(see the movie rogue trader)
After all the fines these banks have been hit by since 2008 they can't trust traders who only care about the end of year bonus.

>>A government agency designed to collect data and catch domestic terrorists are collecting data in masses well, they not only do that, they also do economic espionage, and political influencing, too. see wikileaks.org/nsa-brazil/ (also check the "other releases" box at the left)
yes goy, they don't listen your comms! if you had read the article, you'd know that they DO listen to your comms... but the US government also lets the GCHQ do it for them
