Oh, and DLC's are kind of a problem here if you want to play alone - otherwise you can always join a lobby after everybody picked their characters and play with their decks (the card pile is shared anyway) and a random character.

̷P̷r̷e̷f̷e̷r̷a̷b̷l̷y̷ ̷n̷o̷n̷e̷, you should read what each character does and what possible card packs go with them on wiki.
I mean, if you r e a l l y don't want to buy any DLC, there's always a possibility of playing a random character with random deck that AI builds you (every deck is in one shared pile so that's never a problem - even a nice touch if you are playing with friends who doesn't have any DLC cards).

All DLC characters are pretty ebin, if you don't know any cards that could synergize amazing with their perks, I would suggest just reading

You can go straight up for multiplayer, albeit farming some lvs to unlock at least two characters sounds good too~
