the problem with google is that even if we all stopped using it, there are still 10,000,000,000 normies who are going to give them their data anyway. I literally had to add zeros to my hyperbole because my inital typing was actually less than what they no doubt have.

Google is everywhere and knows everything, and I don't know what the fuck can be done about it. I'm worried their going to create incredibly powerful and effective AI, which will essentially give them a technology that's just... fuck.

It gets encrypted and stays encrypted. You can access it if you ask to see it. Google employees can access it only if you give them permission to do so, e.g. to solve a user problem.
Google gets money from advertisers based on variations of the AdWords model: advertisers buy ads based on keywords, and when you access your data, it serves you ads too. The advertisers never see any of your private data either.
We don't use Gmail data for advertising data anymore. I think we just use things like YouTube comments, watches, search history etc. I don't know all the details.
There are ways to delete any data that Google has on you that you want to delete. Google it and find out.

There has always been ad blocking, and Google ads have always been unobtrusive enough that people don't try to block them as much.
Google ads have always been way, way less obtrusive than the average aggressive Internet ads with flashing text and pop-up windows.

Things tend to change in the world of business, and change especially quickly in the tech industry. Meanwhile, Google is building an extensive profile about you that includes your location history, your bookmarks, emails, contacts, Google Drive files, your entire search history, your YouTube videos, photos you’ve taken on your phone, the businesses you’ve bought from, and probably lots of data we don't even know about yet.

I'm not at home. I do at work because they prefer it for whatever reasons. Idgaf because it's already Windows there. Most of this guy's friends probably use Chrome, and it's an easier sell to install this than to switch them to FF and install it.

- Your credit card company, knows where you were at what times and what you bought there
- Amazon, knows everything you've purchased on its site and keeps the data for years
- Your health care provider, knows every detail of your health and even things about your sex life, ancestry, relatives etc.
- Facebook, knows about who your friends are and literally was caught selling that data to other companies
- Your bank, knows all details of money going in and out of your bank account
Are you also worried about all those companies? Wells Fargo was generating fake unauthorized accounts just a couple of years ago. It's not like long-established companies are immune to moral breakdowns.
