Pretty nice actualy its what web pages should be
looks pretty neat, but it's dependency on firefox limits it's usefulness
This. Why not base it on a more minimalistic web renderen?
so, its rendering into a buffer and then approximate it with colored text blocks? does it work on any terminal emulator?
>reduce bandwidth
>still downloads js, images, webglshit
>so, its rendering into a buffer and then approximate it with colored text blocks?
Wait is that seriously what it does? That completely fucking defeats the purpose of a text-based browsed.
it's not just a dumb text graphics thing like caca
while it does that to actual graphics, for text it uses the actual page text directly, mangling pages to suit the terminal cells
just scraping the page alone would be pointless, since all but massive text wouldn't be readable
>what is framebuffer
Displaying images is a long-solved problem. I'm pretty sure Lynx supports images. So their shit is a dumb gimmick.
What I want is a rendering engine that works well with modern but mostly sane websites (e.g. Github) but doesn't support any of the crap that's used for fingerprinting, tracking, and all that crap.
Pretty fucking impressive if you ask me.
1. this is a text browser, not a graphical one (a framebuffer is graphical, you could slap firefox itself on a framebuffer if you want to)
2. it's not just a barebones browser with image support, there's options for that already
what this is is a compromise between vnc and a textmode browser, where you need text, but don't want to completely forego formatting/imagery
>not just using Uzbl
>text based browser
Unironically new favorite browser. Time to replace elinks, lynx, and netsurf
>modern
>text based
>not standalone browser
>shit malware javascript
No,thanks. I use surf + tabbed.
this'd be useful on my vps if it weren't for the fact it needed firefox, my vps doesn't have enough resources for that
kek
Are you intentionally pixelating the images or cant your shitty browser even display simple black and white bitmap images?
Okay fa/g/
it's a terminal window
What part of text-based do you not understand?
Then why try to render images at all?
it's amazing what a bit of formatting can do, it looks more like a normal browser with blocky images than a text browser
>you could slap firefox itself on a framebuffer if you want to
I want but I cannot. Teach me senpai.
Finally a better browser for when X11 breaks again ;)
*wayland
Its 2018 bro
#justarchlinuxthings
It does depending on where and how you use it.
ie. SSH'ing into a machine half way across the planet using a crappy 9600baud connection.
The images are only loaded and converted on the host - they were never sent over the SSH connection to the client.
Still, it could be better.
So you want to stand out like a sore thumb?
It hasn't broken for two decades.
>Two decades
That's right, no one has had X11 break on them since 1998.
Never happened.
The post was a joke, but goddamn you've got some real cognitive dissonance going on right now if you think X11 hsan't broken 1998...
t. 15 y/o boomer
So I just used this for about 10 minutes. It is actually fucking dogshit. It's literally rendering firefox in the terminal and not doing jack shit else. It takes up about 600 mb of RAM just to go on Jow Forums. Fuck this. Use w3m for fucks sakes, can this shit.
Because your only other option is webkit which is dogshit
What about Netrunner
Good idea
failed execution.
If'll be able to make a post with it here in 3 years ill stream myself sucking my own dick
it's RIP
Can anyone run it with the provided docker image?
I like images. I do not like HTML5, CSS3, JS, or WebGL.

Both the docker image and the prebuilt work fine for me. What issue are you having?
whats wrong with html5 and css3?
How exactly does it reduce bandwidth, it seems it downloads the whole images on the page anyway.
Nobody asked you
user stop your faggotry now, it's a fucking terminal browser you can't really work with images
You run it on your server and browse via SSH
I have a VPS and i can see the use case, but if the only way this reduce bandwidth is by using a server's bandwidth then they probably shouldn't list that in the main page.

Nu/g/
>Just need a 1GB VPS
Unfortunately I noticed this too, might even use MORE resources than straight up FF
Looks ideal for Japanese porn.
w3m does it lmfao
Honestly all it does is makes me want to make it, but not shit.
This shit doesn't work correctly in real terminal and not an emulator. Bah!
im so fucking sick of bro culture
Seriously underrated
>MFW THE SNAIL LOGO IS REDDIT
LE BRO-SH
I remeber being 15 LMAO
Tbh it works like shit in tty and doesn't support 90% of terminals. Why the fuck it doesn't support mouse in TTY?
looks nice although the image pixelization is probably unnecessary hipster shit.
if it had built in support for adblock lists I'd use it. eventually I'll run a pi-hole and it won't matter, but for now I really need ublock.
why? just get the binary from mozilla
thanks for the link nigger
your vps doesn't have 150 free megabytes?
>*wayland
only gnome is usable but not bug free
only weston works well but not that usable
mpv --vo=drm
Someone stupid enough to use this instead of a regular browser isn't smart enough to realize that.
>muh terminal
can you post on Jow Forums using this?
You won't be able to recognize cars xD
Good post
you can always use libchromiumcontent
I've installed uzbl from AUR but when I boot it up the bottom bar just says "Loading => 10%" and nothing happens
>w3m
can you use that to post somehow, ie can you solve captchas with this?
>moving target, ever more bloated web standard
>minimalistic web rederen
It's not possible.
Jow Forums fags don't like anything that was created after the 60's
Looks interesting if it's not a meme, anyone tried it?
