Now the 2500k... that was a good intel cpu *tsck…pshh…fwshhhhhhhhh*... it's 2018 and you still don't need more than 4 cores *sips*
Now the 2500k... that was a good intel cpu *tsck…pshh…fwshhhhhhhhh*...
Moar cores (and RAM for that matter) is a meme if you only have a few hand-picked programs and don't do a lot of CPU intensive stuff.
I've been using an i7 970 8 years lol.
>tfw using the 3570k for 6 years
When will something worthwhile come along already
>tfw my 4670k is bottlenecking my 1080 ti
>i5 760
I would still be using it if my PSU didn't blow up on the inside and ruin the other parts.
Boomer is right.
I'm swapping my for an 2700x next week.
except its been universally excepted that the 2500k/2600k were one of the best cpus ever made. Which says alot more about intels laziness and AMD's shittiness.
The only real reason people are upgrading is because of GPUs getting bottlenecked. Aside from that the 2500k/2600k cpus are still damn good.
>Which says alot more about intels laziness and AMD's shittiness
Both companies have better options available now, so what do you even want?
>it's current year
>you need/don't need some arbitrarily defined hardware meme
DAE 16 GB of RAM???
kys, everyone has different needs and should purchase/upgrade their hardware based solely on their personal needs and budget.
also the boomer meme is actually retarded, it's reddit tier stuff.
A thread died for this
>tfw still on a 2600K
Did you mean Q6600? Now THAT was a CPU. I'm willing to sell mine, daily driven but mint condition, no lowballers i know what i got.
Phenom 980, 8800gtx.
The reason most people stuck with the 2500k was because Intel was being a bunch of shits; offering new processors with no real performance increase for some time. It overclocked pretty well to boot, which made it stick around even longer.
I upgrade systems just for the fun of building new ones. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably still be running a 965. I've got a laptop running a Turion x2 with office, photoshop, and it can browse the net just fine - I can watch streams and play some lighter games on it as well. Throwing an SSD into most Vista-era PCs often brings them up to speed - maybe with a RAM increase as well.
Older hardware isn't as bad if you know how to make the most of it. Going bleeding edge just to do it is a waste of money.
i don't get this meme, what's wrong with monster
I still don't get what the monster can has to do with anything
Can I test drive it?
Only if you show up with cash in hand
You guys are really overthinking a shitty meme.
Old people who are trying to act younger I think
BOOMER YEAAAHHH, BOOMER USA
Literally the lowest tier Ryzen will eat it alive OP
Except at the most important part, gaming
I don't even understand why you amerilards chug energy drinks like it's water. Is this the "don't talk to me until I've had my morning coffee redditbros XDD" but taken to the next level?
>tfw that 30 yr old boomer is still using an e5450 clocked at 4GHz
It's 2018 and I'm absolutely fine with 2 laptop cores.
>I don't even understand why you amerilards chug energy drinks like it's water
We're not fins
>chug energy drinks like it's water
Imagine drinking water like some fucking caveman.
>still on i5-2500k and 8gb of ram
Who here /still truckin/
I've had several cans at most. They taste pretty good
It wasn't until the 7th gen cpus that it was even worth upgrading. Thats several generations of cpus that offered practically no reason to upgrade. it took advancements in GPUs to push cpu upgrades to become necessary .
I don't drink energy drinks but the water here is shitty, tons of dissolved solids and smells like chlorine
Can't wait for the boomer to discover pre-workout
>>I don't even understand why you amerilards chug energy drinks like it's water
Well, alot of black folk like soda and we rejected the soda tax that Atlanta tried to pass last year. We like soda cause we can afford soda and it tastes good, not that difficult.
and how new is ryzen vs the 2500k? thats not a win for amd.
Just like faildozer which was going to "take on the upcoming i7 and set intel back decades" and yet it was getting it ass stomped in by intel's i960s
>Intel Core2 Quad Q9650
>4GB RAM, cant upgrade to more
Me
based 1st gen bros
I still use a 2500k but only because im too poor to afford anything new. My pc is dying as I speak tho.
What mobo do you have? Mine have 4 slots with up to 8gb total.
Do you really need more than that?
I like the ":^)" button :)
It still works tho. Just fine for all major software. It's not like there has been any real evolution in CPUs since its release.
Dell MIG41R. The G41 chipset technically supports up to 8GB of RAM but stupid DELL bios restrict more than 4 :-/
>amd fx-8300
>1070 ti
>i7 970
39 year old boomer with his 980X reporting in
that 1000€ CPU was well spent
going threadripper 2 soon, gotta spend some of that crypto gainz
>implying i need more than 2 cores
Its because of the cpu memory channels, it would support 8gb on 4 memory banks, but because the mobo only has 2 slots, you only have 4gb max
CONSPIRACY, Jow Forums IS BEING ASTROTURFED BY MONSTER
Why would you buy Monster when Wired is like 70c per pint?
>Q6600
I still have my SLACR pc on standby
>7th gen cpus
Hmm, no, KabyLake was rubbish. Overheating piece of shit. Worst since Haslel first release.
My 2500k is still running strong in this very computer.
I'll upgrade when a CPU launches with baked in Meltdown/Spectre fixes
Core 2 Quad desu
im talking about pure performance. I'm not saying those chips weren't fucking furnaces (because intel are a bunch of cheap cock suckers) but still, performance-wise compared the 2500k it was worthy upgrade.
Jokes on you my main HTPC is a Q6600,also my main computer is an old Xeon
I've got a i7 4820K and a GTX 970. I can still run pretty much everything on high or very high settings. I haven't had to upgrade anything since the ps4 came out.
>tfw 2500k
>never overclocked
>don't even know how
*sips*
2700x, RX 580, 16Gb Flare X
It feels much snappier and faster than my original build of the 1090t, HD 6950 2Gb and 8GB DDR3 Gskill. The 1090t was a decent CPU, loved that thing. OCing it just 400mhz would give me a 10 20% bump in FPS
I almost got the 7700k, but decided to go with Ryzen instead. Then I waited again for the 2000 series.
It's still fine.
Except for emulating sega saturn, but everything else is fine.
>Back in the old days, we used to call a GPU a 3D graphic accelerator!
Idiot. stop making memes where the boomer is right
+1, same ram and cpu (OCd to 4.5GHz)
>q9450
>775
still
fucking
fine
Still trucking with an oc'ed 4.8ghz air cooled 2500k. I dont forsee myself needing to upgrade this thing at least until cyberpunk 2077 comes out.
You'll be waiting at least 5 more years.
>not display adapter
I am but upgraded to 16gb of ram and went from a 560Ti to a 970. I know I could definitely use an upgrade but gonna run it another year or two before going for a whole new build with 32gb of ram and some SSDs.
God... The cringe is too strong.
Ah yes Zen 2700x now that's a great CPU
My dad replaced his dying i7 950 rig with an i5 8400 HP prebuilt a few days ago, feelsbadman.
Imagine buying a new CPU and getting 30%+ performance gains across the board
That shit can't even play 720p without stuttering, I have a T60 myself with that CPU and it sucks.
Imagine buying a CPU with 100%+ single-core performance... with 6+ extra cores
Use chromium instead of Firefox, Firefox doesn't use the graphics card at all.
I just sold my 2500k, Maximus V Formula and 16gb of 1600mhz DDR3 foor $300 sryup bucks. Replaced it with a 8700k build.
feels good man
In certain tasks yes
Literally wrong
>tfw Amerifats will never EVER taste the superior energy drink
it's because the 20 year olds, who the 14 year olds, who made this meme, and are trying to deride, in their eyes, drink monster.
pretty sure 20 year olds drink alcohol
>voluntarily ingesting a neurotoxin
boomers are 55+. a generation that is named after the post war baby boom. Govt promoted to allied families to pump out more babies, using the war losses as an excuse.
Yuropeans prefer to guzzle Muslim semen.
> in their eyes
Wrong, Yurotrash.
little plebs don't know this so think boomer = old.
cope
>2011
>building first PC
>2500k getting hyped to shit
>gaben comes out and praises it, calls it a game changer, presumably for its integrated graphics
>somehow think this applies to me despite getting a dedicated GPU
>end up blowing a good chunk of my budget on it
>consequently have to settle for a weaker GPU
>ask Jow Forums if i made the right choice
>get absolutely shit on for falling for le sandy bridge meme
I'm still on my 2500k, but I'm not dumb enough to think that I made an educated decision back then.
>tfw 34 y/o boomer
Yo.
i5-2500k
16 gig ram kit (got it for about 40+ dollarydoos BITD on a newegg deal)
Cooler Master Hyper 212+ HSF
ASRock P67extreme4 gen3 mobo
Triple monitor
Got a EVGA Nvidia GTX 1070 Hybrid for $425 about a year ago. I can run fucking anything, including VR.
Multicore processor support is a fucking joke, most developers can't even write a fucking goto10 gag, let alone a modern piece of software that knows how to split it's workload. So good ole' sandy bridge it is.
I'm still using my x5675 that I bought from ebay after many years on my i7 960.
this is actual longevity kino
Is that importable?
pretty sure they have it on amazon
This, but unironically.
>still running a 2500k
He's right you know
Sitting comfy on an i5-2400, 8GB of RAM, and a 1050ti
290x boomer here
