lol having dial up back in 1999, must suck to be poor, dad's company was paying for our Cable Modem back then. 10mbps, blazing speeds on compared to you guys.
we actually had to upgrade our computer because it was actually slowing down the connection. meaning the CPU and the HDD couldn't keep up with the cable modem.

i remember going to a friends place with cable round 2000 and we were downloading songs from napster faster than transfering them to our shitty usb sticks
it was fucking magic.... and here i am in current year queuing up a few DSD 5.6mhz rips and slowly waiting for them to trickle down while i sleep :/

it was great, cable was so expensive no one was on so you got full speed.

>hyped for cable internet in 1998 >rolls out >it's unidirectional with telco return

How useable is dial-up in this day and age? Considering it to save money
Completely unusable if you intend to continue using the web. The html/css/js alone on most pages has ballooned into the megabyte range over the years, let alone the images and media. Just that tiny b/w image you posted by itself would take around 8 seconds to download at 56k.
