You should not have your TV connected to the internet. At all.

This is your fault for letting it happen.

Are there any decent rootable android smart TVs out there? I use an android box with my current dumb TV but am looking to get a new TV and it would be nice to have that functionality built into the TV without all the bullshit

Pics or it didn't happen.

I fucking want to, it was only up for a minute and I was too busy staring in terror to take a picture.

That's just dumb normies susidizing your TV purchase. You can thank the free market.

>there was an ad on my TV
>what the fuck was that shit, what kind of fucked up dystopia is this
Where the fuck have you been the last 70 years?

Should have gone for a Japanese brand like Panasonic or Sony rather than a korean-jew brand.

>that 30 year old boomer who remembers watching TV with ads

Why would you want that built into your TV? Do you -really- want to upgrade your fucking TV because the version of Android is too old to be compatible with apps or because the processor is now too slow?

I don't know about you but TVs are used for well over 10 years in my family. If I'm buying a new TV the old one goes to someone else that uses it for 10 years.

It's much better to replace a $40 box instead of a $600 TV.

What exactly makes the tv smart? having apps or something?
Why dont you buy a regular tv and connect it to a raspberry pi with kodi installed on it

You do have a point but mainly it's just because I don't like clutter. Also if the tv gets too old I can always just add an external box anyway

Yeah, ads are totally getting out of hand these days. My dad bought Hulu today and even that shit comes with ads after you pay. Outrageous

That was the joke. OP had a notification pop up on his smart TV when he was playing a video game, advertising some shit, which you shouldn't have appear unexpectedly on your television. But the way he said it makes you think of commercials, which are normal.

I'm not one of those edgy kids who keep talking about 1984 dystopia while never having actually read it, but smart TVs are literally the telescreen from 1984. Except normies are welcoming them with open arms, instead of fearing them like their favorite novel told them for years.

He was not talking about commercials, dingus.

It doesn't have to be clutter, you can literally just velcro an android box to the back of your TV and have it completely hidden.

How is it literally any different from a Windows computer?

new TVs are all smart TVs.

Yeah they are pretty much the same, I guess the only difference is that most desktop type PCs don't have a camera in them and are generally not in a position to spy on entire rooms.

What smart TV has a camera? You're retarded.

Lots of them, where have you been?

Show me literally one.

Some of them had camera.
None do anymore.

>Get Panasonic TV
>Is pretty gud
>Uses Firefox OS
>OS gets discontinued
>tfw stuck with a TV with an outdated OS which I can't do shit about

Took me two minutes

Mozila themselves arnt working on FFOS, but Panasonic still are i think.

So one model of a TV comes with a camera, but all laptops and smartphones do, but the TV is 1984?

>Discontinued
As I said, they HAD camera.
None do anymore.

lol wtf my sony smart doesnt do that. Is that an LG thing?

sauce on vidya?

>don't use smart TV shit
THEN WHY DID YOU BUY IT YOU GODAMM RETARD

Find me a modern tv that is not a smart tv.

literally almost any Vizio

find a 4k tv that isn't smart

...

>don't use smart TV shit
>still connects it to the Internet
good job, OP

Give me a model, all of the ones I find are smart TVs.

> 2018
> not buying a TV from the 00

Vizio is SHIT, also I'm not finding any non-smart 4k TVs

maybe 5 years ago bucko

Attached: 05ylu4hj0v911.jpg (842x1200, 224K)

Why would you?

most vizios have no baked-in smart features except connecting to your phone streaming app over wifi

just don't connect it to your internet and don't press any buttons on the remote other than volume
BAM
dumb TV

>Vizio is SHIT
so is not having a smart TV

I'm pretty comfy with my 75" Sony x900E user. Why would you buy Korean products?

wat vidya dis?

so is not having a holodeck
except when the fucking background apps crash, it's inefficient spyware bullshit fucking cia niggers

Attached: 1531374175345.png (554x494, 396K)

Some smart TVs work without the Wi-Fi card.

>background apps
there aren't any

>wants a holodeck
>can't even wrap his head around netflix on a flat screen

an ad on your tv! Outrageous!
Not a single time in the history of modern america have we seen ads on TV :^)

octomeme shitraveller.

You're confusing ads with commercials.

octopath traveller
he's a switch soiboy

samsung one had a mic so a pinhole camera wouldnt be that difficult

>not just using a dumb TV
What are you fucking retarded? My plasma still looks better than any of the trash you can buy today and it has none of that meme shit either.

Right. Previously advertisements were only part of broadcasts, never separately shown to you by your TV.
