any will work it will still look like shit :3

one that works

One with IPS panel.

IPS, only IPS.

Anime is best viewed on a CRT monitor @ 1024x768

this

>good monitor for anime
any 1080p ips panel w/ a refresh rate that's an even multiple of 24
if you wanna get more autistic, color calibrated to srgb, 10bit color
modern anime films like kimi no na wa are starting to dabble in hdr and bumping the production resolution to 2k

Me too user.

Something with hw frame interpolation
See how buttery smooth it can be by searching for 60fps animu on jewtube

TV.

144hz 4K ips.

Don’t tell me u don’t use svp and download 1080p?

Svp is so gay

Im actually curious as well. On one hand 1440p sort of works because a lot of anime is animated at 720p but at the same time a lot of it is scaled to 1080p so a 4k monitor might work. Then obviously refresh rate doesnt matter at all.

Ips makes sense, but what about oled? I saw an oled screen at a friends house and it had terrible interlacing, ghosting and retention

4k because it has perfect scaling for both 720p and 1080p content

720p scales perfectly to 1440p, normal horrsubs rips look like BD

25" 1440p IPS with quality build (like dell u2515h)
Because 720p anime scales perfectly to 1440p.
And you better buy one in a store instead of ordering one blindly because current era quality control in displays is practically nonexistant and most of them has horrible light bleed because of shitty build.

Is OLED tv good for watching anime?

What is the source of this pic?

is people still watching anime when mangas exist?

I know, thats why im wondering since 1080p anime is usually upscaled 720p

>Even multiple of 24

1366x768 is literally all you need.
anime is 720p

would 72hz work for anime?

72/24

one that doesn't work

A noose.

Anime is the worst thing to happen. So cancerous and cringey

lol why are you on Jow Forums

Why are you alive lmaooooo

Reddit might be more your speed if you want a general-purpose messageboard instead of an anime focused one with subdivisions.

Any good examples of 1080p monitors compatible with 23.976hz or at least a multiple of 24? I'm okay with IPS or VA, as long as it has decent colors.

You need one with low response times so you can cum even faster

...

Little known fact is that IPS is actually gay. Get VA for significantly better contrast and comparable colors (or sometimes better) to IPS panels.

user, more than half the boards are not anime related in the slightest, furthermore we don't talk about anime on the technolo/g/y board ffs.
Yes Jow Forums was born from the otaku culture of 2ch but it has evolved beyond that into a hybrid of the newgrounds/2ch/8ch cultures mixed together. Its no longer >Anime website, its its own thing. Its as retarded as furfags saying Jow Forums is a furry website because it has a furry board.

Technology sub-board of an anime website. Deal with it Jow Forumsedditard.

Attached: 1521572425450.gif (500x280, 1.82M)

Sadly this. A lot of anime is 480p upscaled to 720p which is then upscaled to 1080p. Then factoring in chroma sub sampling throughout all this and you basically get diahreahh.

Modern vectorised anime is probably worse than all that.

The Jow Forums doesn't come from technolo/g/y, neither is it some random letter that happened to be unused at the time of creation.
The fact that you didn't know that proves any and all points made against you.

yes i know it doesn't come from technolo/g/y i was just doing it like that for fun. I know it originally stood for guro which then became technology (somehow).

The g stands for gijutsu (技術), which means technology.

brainlet got BTFOd so hard

The best one I ever had was a viewsonic graphics series crt. that motherfucker would do 1920x1440@85hz. I watched all my anime in native resolution, at 72 or 96hz, with amazing colors, no motion artefacts and an extremely low clock deviation. it's rare to find a pc crt with that kind of resolution, but it is the absolute best option.

if you're using a modern screen, you would ideally have VA or IPS panel with 4k resolution. that's because you can use nearest neighbor scaling for 1080p, 720p and 480p no problem. i have 1440p and 1080p lcds, both of which work fine. i do prefer native 1080p to 1080p>1440p upscales, but looking at the screenshots side by side, my madvr config does a pretty great job.

having freesync is a good sign too. it will accept weird custom display modes, which you will want. use them to sync up your display to the video frame rate as much as possible, to get the minimum frame drops/repeats.

some normal lcds have acceptable results but some are awful. you don't know until you try. no one advertises clock deviation. it's not an issue with analog. Here's what I got:

Dell Ultrasharp IPS 2012: 1 frame drop every 57 minutes
Nixeus EDG17: 1 frame repeat every 3 hours
samsung hdtv: had 24hz mode, but so unstable it would always drop frames and stutter
vizio 3d tv: would only do edid 24.0hz
crt: 1 frame repeat every 2 months lol

if you're using a crt, you need a somewhat older graphics card. intel hd drivers suck and newer amd/nvidia don't have analog. the dp>vga dongles are hit or miss

refresh rate matters a lot. make sure your monitor can do a multiple of 24hz, because that's what all the anime is.

it's ideal

i like the dell ultrasharp series. mine does 72hz. also any freesync monitor should do 48hz fine.

Also, motion interpolation is not suitable for anime. If you want to see nothing but computer generated in between frames you might as well go to sankaku.

But for real, 4K at 48Hz/72Hz is best since it scales 720p and 1080p at 24Hz

Attached: 1528309842533.jpg (600x800, 65K)

have a NEC 2490WUXi2 atm, but can get 1920x1440@85Hz CRTs locally for around 10eur (Iiyama or Samsung). Which one do you recommend? Also thanks for the writeup :)

I'm not familiar with a lot of crt models, but i where can you buy those? i live in america but ever since the viewsonic broke i've really wanted another one

Im in europe, people are practicly giving CRTs away

i can get a lot of crts for cheap, but it's not easy to find the high end ones. i wouldn't mind paying a high price for a high end one in good shape.

svp or mvp interpolation?

no

VA is the best if you're not too concerned with response times.

I really wish they would sell 72hz monitors.
60hz and 75hz are what is common.

I think we'll sooner see 4K/120hz monitors than 4K/72hz

SO MANY FUCKING TECH ILLITERATES IN THIS THREAD

watching videos in 720p, or playing 720p, on a monitor that is 1080p, will stretch the 720p to 1080p and it will LOOK LIKE FUCKING SHIT, and you're either trolling or mentally deranged if you can't see stretched images. if you want a good monitor for 1080p anime (since 1080p is the highest you can get for anime nowadays), make sure the panel is IPS, OLED or something with vibrant colors and deep blacks, then make sure the resolution is set to the same as the video content

VA comes with shitty viewing angles too, and weird and nasty motion blur and ghosting

microled is around the corner and will be out within two years, they're going to release large TVs with microled next year

Well if it can do 75 Hz, you can usually use CRU to set it to 72 Hz. 60 Hz to 48 Hz is more iffy, but I've got it done before.

asus vx279 fine for watching anime if you calibrate it

Attached: IMG_0548.jpg (2592x1728, 1.66M)

IPS for good colors
16:10 or 4:3 so that the on-screen display of your video player doesn't cover the actual video

interpolation is bad

Imagine being this retarded...
