homemade escapement edition - suddenly having skipping problems with my dual ulysse model again. the locking teeth of the pallet fork aren't engaging the escape teeth, so i think i may try to epoxy the escape wheel shafts in place and push them towards the center as the epoxy sets so that everything makes better contact.

Hey everybody I found an old cheap watch at my parent in laws home and I know nothing about it. Can you help shed some light on it?
At the very least take a picture from less than 1000 feet away. You should also include at least 5hr caseback if you're not going to open the watch and photograph the movement.
From here it looks like generic low end quartz but impossibke to tell from this distance.

Is the tungsten carbide as scratch free as it looks? It's pretty neat how cases that are decades old look basically mint.
Zero scratch on the case. It was sold in 2000 according to the papers.

they're loose in the sockets. the ends of each one are wrapped in scotch tape so they don't jiggle around as much, but instead of centering the shafts in the socket i think i need them to be as far inward as possible. don't really want to reprint and refinish two escape wheels, so i'm gonna try this instead.

I suppose epoxying the shafts will fix that. Do the escape wheels have some kind of collar or something that connects them to their pinion?

one of the two escape wheels has a hexagonal shaft and the pinion gear is friction-fit onto that shaft.

finally got this perfected - it never skips even under high torque now. i ended up fixing it by applying another layer of tape to one of the locking teeth on the pallet fork; you can see the tape in this webm, along with a strand of my cat's hair that was caught in it.

Almost nothing scratches tungsten carbide except other jewelry with hard gems and some household items like those cheap synthetic nail files women use. Over time very faint micro scratches can appear on the metal and there is no way to remove them, but they are nearly impossible to see.

It goes up and down though, two weeks ago it was more like 3 seconds fast, last week 1.5 seconds fast, and now 2.
