underage bait
>touchpad
Try clicking on a link with both left and right button at the same time.
Just right click menu.
In chromium based browsers this opens a tab using the same task process.
I'm glad a thread died for this
Just middle click link.
I made this shitty fucking bait thread in hopes that you would share some more life saving shortcuts, why didn't you swallow?
Ctrl + Enter – Auto-complete *.com address
Shift + Enter – Auto-complete *.net address
Ctrl + Shift + Enter – Auto-complete *.org address
add alt to any of those to open in a new tab.
>type text
>highlight text
>ctrl+s
u got btfod
Windows explorer:
>F2 renames files, after changing tab goes to next, shift tab goes back
>F3 opens search
>F4 opens address bar
I use ctrl+L most frequently. selects the address bar in web browsers
alt + F4 your life senpai
On linux (X), you can select context menu options by pressing down the right mouse button, dragging to an option and letting go.
On most browsers, a context menu on the page has 'back' as the top option, and 'open in new tab' when clicking over a link.
You can access them as if they were mouse gestures.
While writing text:
>Ctrl + left/right arrow key
Moves one word at a time instead of one character
>Ctrl + shift + arrow key
Highlights the next word (hold ctrl+shift down to select multiple words), you can ten start typing to overwrite them and fix typos
>home / end
goes to start / end of current line you're writing
>ctrl + home / end
Goes to start / end of all text, Ctrl+end is great if you fix a typo in the middle and want to go back to writing at the end
>shift + home
Selects to the beginning of the current line, allows you to quickly rewrite a sentence
>Ctrl + backspace / delete
Deletes the word you just typed / to the right of the cursor, perfect for fixing typos if you type fast
>doubleclick word
highlights the current word
>triple click word
Highlights the current line
Windows:
>Win+E to open Explorer (file browser)
>F2 to rename highlighted thing, works in most programs
>Win+Left/Right arrow key
Moves current window to the right or left half of the screen, so you can dual pane. top/down maximizes and minimizes the window.
>Alt + printscreen
screenshots only the currently active window, not the whole screen
>Ctrl+shift+Esc
Opens task manager instantly
>win+pause
Shows computer info, great for checking someone's specs real quick
Web browsers:
>Ctrl+F5
Clears the page cache and then refreshes it, use it instead of a cache clear
>Ctrl+T
Open new tab
>Ctrl+Shift+T
Re-open the last tab you closed (this one is awesome)
I use all of these regularly
This is the best! I'm going to put these all into my Elgato Stream Deck!
one neat trick I use sometimes:
if you press alt-enter in your url bar, it opens what's typed in a new tab. by default this is like duplicating your tap, but if you're on amazon.com/niggers and you delete niggers from the url before hitting alt-enter, it'll just open amazon.com in the other tab.
if you like keyboard shortcuts, I highly recommend getting a vim addon for firefox, such as vimfx or vim vixen. I don't remember which one works with new firefox, I'm using icecat right now. The best part of a vim addon is the hints mode for clicking links from the keyboard. Pressing f and then typing out a hint will go to it on the current page, pressing F will do it in a new tab. Lots of neat stuff.
Sure, enjoy
>ctrl click
>not middle mouse
fuck you faggot, >inb4 you use apple
Such degeneracy!
utterly based
F6 works too
