Vim my mang
Use Vim faggot
Microsoft will kill Atom
Don't try to ignore VS Code. Those editors don't stand a chance.
I prefer VS Code over Atom but I would love to use Atom instead because it has a nicer auto-completion popup than VS Code's. Sublime I haven't used in a few years and didn't maximized it's use.
VS code
VS Code is a strictly better Atom, atom is a free and extensible but laggy sublime text, all are inferior but easier to use and prettier than vim/emacs.
VS Code
get the one from GitHub though, the one from the "official website" contains M$ spyware
>propietary text editor
why would you do that
>using proprietary hardware
why would you do that
>Sublime
awesome
>Atom
awesome
conclusion: they are both awesome but you may prefer atom because it is free
Vim and Emacs . Get that trash out of my face.
geany
Graphical:
gedit
Lots of themes, lots of add-ons available, open source, and cross platform. Almost any feature you might want exists as an add-on.
Terminal:
Vim
Because it is likely that every server you will ever log into has it.
VS Code/
>every server you will ever log into has it.
vi not vim
VSCode.
(nice get)
fpbp
vscode and vim
literally the ideal combination in every single way
JetBrain IDEs > *
If JetBrain doens't offer an IDE for the language then I resort to VSCode which is okay, once you turn off some of the garbage. This is why you guys should do well in school and get a good job at a enterprise-tier company who will pay for any editor you want.
Nothing will ever beat Sublime Text 3
Vim or Spacemacs
Atom, Sublime isn't FOSS
I personally use qtcreator
Its pretty fucking great, lightweight, simple to use, and relatively feature rich
this tbpqh
qtcreator
Does it really make qts?
Both bloatnets but sublime slightly less shit
WTF¿
What things does VS Code have that Atom/Sublime don't?
Vim looks ugly, if i am going to use a software for hours at least it should be pleasant to the eyes, what advantages does vim have over the other?
>if you can't beat em, EEE
IntelliSense is unmatched for code completion. Download Visual Studio and write a C# app and tell me it isn't the best experience you've ever had.
I tried VSC but noticed a really bad latency when selecting small or large chunks of text with the mouse(click dragging), its not practical i know but still, electron is a bad idea.
Sublime is much snappier though and i couldnt feel any latency.
Use atom, it has all sublime features and even more with its packages, its actually pretty lightweight if you leave the default config without any additional packages
emacs you fucking nigger. stop using bloated text editors
Vim
Used to use Atom, but after using Vim for an hour I can't go back.
i discarded atom, just because of the retarded default key shortcuts
I just use Mousepad
The one that doesn't take a solid minute to load and isn't just a wrapper around Chromium.
I am, of course, talking about vim.
>after using Vim for an hour I can't go back.
Cause you can't exit it
it's just a matter of time before ms abandons it though. i mean it's microsoft.
:q!
Wow, that was hard to remember
>implying you don't have to hit ESC repeatedly until it goes back into command mode
>it's
its
Sublime text is objectively the best text editor for windows
All those others like atom or vs code are electron trash which means shit performance compared to the I think it's c++ written Sublime
Like just look at the cpu usage when ur scrolling down in a file
Cpu usage will go crazy for such basic shit
Also big files will work thousand times better on Sublime
github.com
What's the difference?
it's means 'it is'
You talk like emacs isn't the obvious answer
I use R Studio all the time. Would using a text editor have any benefits over the IDE?
honest question and please no bulli.
