i have never seen microsoft accounts work correctly which sucks because every university uses outlook.com, like they fucking scramble windows, outlook, office, xbox, and skype passwords at random so only half the shit works, and all these have business/personal versions picked at random when you login

Microsoft is what killed all of them by trying to do more than what is necessary. They do this to fool people into thinking that something is better just because it's new but that's not always the case such as with win7 and win10.

Windows Server is built for rendering, there's nothing you need to render on a desktop-class machine, Windows Server is designed not to update without permission because of this. Windows 10 is designed for casual use, like office (which autosaves everything), like web browsing, or using Windows applications through the Windows store, which autosaves for updates as well. The whole ecosystem is designed for non-intensive workloads. Get with the system, and stick to it, learn about Windows and your experience should be uninterrupted. Make time for updates to keep yourself safe, learn about upcoming updates, their purpose, and when the system will detect an update and plan your use around that.

Security. It’s great and all. But it can fucking wait 30 minutes because I’m leaving for work soon and need to get this done right now. Windows, the “professional’s” OS, says no you need to update first. Fuck your job.
It isn’t like they say hey we’re going to restart soon. Delay or no? They just straight up hijack your machine at boot time and shutdown. Or in the middle of a project, they don’t care. They simply say YES we are restarting in 10 minutes. Get fucked.
Watch the video of someone halfway through rending video who gets told a reboot is coming in 10 minutes whether he likes it or not. Couldn’t even save. This is like DOS all over again, updates are the new blue screen.

Their core business (desktop operating systems and applications) become more and more irrelevant. This is good news for our GNE/Linux community since the year of the Linux desktop will eventually arrive one day, the bad news is no one but a few nerds will care about desktop computers at that point.

They've really fucked up badly in recent years.

Visual Studio crashes more than ever and has been performing worse since ~2013. I'm on VS2017 (pro or ent I can't remember) and for like 8 months it would just randomly start using 70% of my cpu. Many people had this problem and they just finally fixed it like a week ago. It still freezes or crashes frequently.

Office 365 is literal garbage and I really wish there was a decent alternative. The settings don't stick, outlook crashes almost daily, parts of the interface are objectively inferior to older versions. You still can't even open two files with the same name in excel. Skype for business (aka Lync) is arguably some of the worse software ever written.

I'm fairly convinced they laid off a lot of their testers in regards to windows 10. Insiders alpha test it, home users beta test it, pro users also beta test it because it's still an unstable mess, and finally by the time you get to ent it's usable. The documentation is garbage and often wrong, not version specific, or non-existent. There are a laughable number of "help" links both integrated in windows 10 and on microsoft's own site that lead to pages that don't even exist.

Honestly I don't think it's going to get better anytime soon.

Is there any such thing as a software vendor that has outstanding help/documentation? I've never encountered a company that had documentation that I felt was satisfactory. Google still has outdated links for some of their web services that have either been overhauled or merged with other services dating back as far as 2010.
