>Stunning bright 2560x1700 IPS display 600nits 3:2 >i5 (ivy bridge) >4Gb RAM (soldered) >32/64GB SanDisk iSSD >Fairly easy to replace battery >Exceptional build quality >Minimalist branding/design >Great touch pad >Amazing keyboard >Incredibly speakers (2013 has better speakers than 2015)
>After coolstars custom UEFI, battery life, thermals, and Linux support are greatly improved >More than enough power to run GalliumOS smoothly >Cheap as shit, around $250 usually
I own one of these cause I bought one second hand after the prices tanked just cause I love the design. I can effectively say there has not been a better piece of hardware that has just been artificially ruined by a company as much as this. The only weakness of this laptop is RAM and battery life (4 1/2 hours on gallium). People are constantly asking me what the hell it is cause the screen and design is so damn good.
Bought one, boot looped. It would literally turn on, boot into chrome, then black screen and boot into chrome again.

>copies macbook pro in every way including price
LOOK HOW GOOD IT IS Jow Forums
top fucking kek
all of the pros listed are same on a macbook
>buying old used laptops >ever
Lucas Gomez
>4GB ram
Phones have more than this now
Landon Phillips
lol chrome would use all of that 4gb and then 4gb of virtual google ram if they could
Leo James
Screen is better, price is better, keyboard is better, and build quality is better.
Josiah Lee
it's thicker it's heavier better build top kek half the ram 6 year old cpu no apps smaller trackpad
Elijah Brooks
>(soldered) Dropped, literally and figuratively.
Samuel Davis
Why do you have to fall in retina meme ?! I bought far better laptop for $250
Core i7 4710HQ (not the meme-tier U series) $245 with current exchange rate. Came with intel SSD 160GB Touch Screen
4GB RAM replaceable, not soldered , added 8GB for $40 ordered battery for $30 on ebay , gonna get in 2-3 days from now
SUM $315 for a laptop, who will fuck every macbook and pixels twice the price seven times in a week.

When will Jow Forums finally get over their irrational hate of Apple products?
Nathaniel Rivera
>it's thicker The MacBooks are tapered, this is not.
>it's heavier This has way more metal than the macbooks
>better build top kek People with MacBooks have told me this.
>half the ram Plenty of MacBooks still have 4gb.
>6 year old cpu Still computes with kaby lake
>no apps Linux has no apps?
>smaller trackpad Implying this is a bad thing?
John Moore
I have other laptops, this is more for general usage where you don't need a lot of power.
Camden Miller
It's there when you need it, you can take advantage of sleep states and lo-po modes.
Alexander Gomez
I have an older laptop with a 4710hq as well and it heats up like a mother fucker.
I use a more practical laptop for my main: 6200U, 8Gb ram, 512gb ssd, 1080p convertible touchscreen. But I still tend to like using my pixel cause it's more fun to browse the web on with the screen.
Wyatt Morales
4GB RAM? Is that legal?
Thomas Anderson
It's not more practical, it's just weaker. You can easily turn down the CPU frequency in OSX and windows.
Grayson Gray
It is perfectly alright. Stop signaling manufacturers to innecessarily put 16GB everywhere.
Matthew Thompson
4710hqs are only in big bulky laptops.
And Skylake doesn't heat up near as bad in general.
Luis Ramirez
Oh, right I forgot there's no way to over/underclock a 21st century CPU in linux.
Benjamin Hall
But it is okay. Unused ram is wasted RAM. Only games and CAD need gigabytes, the rest can easily run on swap.
Michael Rodriguez
15.6 2kg standard weight and size laptop, not ultrabook
heat comes from sides, only time I notice heating it's because fan sounds
Brandon Morales
Bro, I just don't want to hear 747 jets speeding up when I decide to play 1080P video.
And underclocking an inefficient chip isn't the answer.
Like I said I have a 4710hq laptop as well, but I only use it when I need the power.
Jack Foster
no mac comes with 4gb anymore
macbook, macbook air, macbook pros are all 8 minimum
>Still computes with kaby lake
lol top kek stopped here
Adrian Bennett
>4Gb RAM (soldered) Not enough, and soldered RAM is never acceptable.
>32/64GB SanDisk iSSD This is tiny, pathetic.
Luis Carter
>this is what Jow Forums would rather buy than a macbook pro out of spite
top fucking kek
Christopher Powell
No, this is what OP would buy, and OP has bad taste. There are plenty of other better laptops, especially for running Linux.
