The first time i saw the name ''Jow Forums'' was in 2007 when i was 10 years old, i remember i saw it somewhere in a normie website, i investigated more about it but i lost interest because i my english was a lot shittier back then and i had this cringy concept that Jow Forums was an evil and illegal deepweb site.

Some years later when i was 18 youtube videos brought me here, those videos were about greentexts from /b/ and /s4s/, turns out modern /b/ was more pathetic and degenerate than i expected.

Don't remember exactly where but I saw a lot of Trump memes on various other sites before the 2016 election. I thought some of them were funny even though I'm not a big Trump fan, so started checking Jow Forums once in a while.
Ended up on Jow Forums because tons of threads randomly got moved there (still happens) and liked Jow Forums way better

Friend showed me a video from /b/. Visited it myself afterwards and realised it was shit. Spend some years on some of the different interest boards and then started going to /qa/ and [s4s]. Took a big break from Jow Forums and when I came back I noticed Jow Forums had been added.

they were actually not that different from here but lots of circlejerking over post count and they were heavily moderated because it's literally a kids site so there was even more hate against mods than there is here. lots of inter-board fighting too
i don't know how there was so much Jow Forums influence there, they even called people "newbags" and "oldbags" instead of newfags and oldfags
they were fun though, they were what got me into sites like these in the first place so they'll always have a special place in my heart

I discovered it at a friends house(or cousin) or something when I was like 14/15 so around 2006/7 and lurked occasionally with friends but usually got scared off by all the shock images and never got much of the humor, I came back around 2014/2015 when I read about all the old school raids and junk, then discovered that /b/ was literally nothing but porn and discovered Jow Forums so I lurk between /v/ /vr/ Jow Forums Jow Forums and here and have been since around 2014 though I did somewhat regularly browse this site for a year or two back in like 2007, I'm kind of rambling now but I was here when some kid posted to /b/ to dox his girlfriend then some user called his girlfriend and user just attacked him relentlessly for a week or two

I think it was easier for Jow Forums to have a much more cohesive board identities back then because the site was smaller.

Around 2013 and 2014 I started reading a lot of encyclopedia dramatica, looking at the site occasionally. I was always interested when the chan or anonymoos were in the news, or shit like gamergate happened, but for the most part I didn't start posting until two or three years ago.

I don't regret it, but Jow Forums is an intoxicating creature.

I still try to have my own fun inspite of all the shit. I only use a handful of other imageboards, which can be rather comfy with a niche userbase. I think one of the things that is important for all of us who don't like the endless regurgitation of pepe and wojak or shit that people track in here from social media is still try to be creative in spite of it. Hell I'm writing song lyrics right now, so I can have a project that Jow Forums can do in a few days or maybe this weekend.

I wanna say I found out about Jow Forums way back in 2005/06, can't say where from exactly since I was all over the place on the internet back then. I was on /b/ for a while, but once it just became and endless flood of trap and porn threads I fled onto /x/. After the whole ebola chan thing happened, I immigrated to Jow Forums and have been there ever since.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I think all of the gore and physical brutality I saw on /b/ as a kid fucked me up in the head a little bit, but such is life. Shit happens, but Jow Forums always found a way to laugh at all of the horrible shit in the world, which somehow made my world a little less horrible.

Some probably have, but that's a probably a minority. Times change, people grow up or grow older, and the approach to things change.

I can only really speak for myself, but i imagine there are still plenty of people on here just sitting around waiting for one more opportunity to raise some hell the good old fashioned way like in the old days.
