I dare you.

Have a secure operating system.

security is subjective and placebo

Have a pretty UI.

Attached: Untitled (53).jpg (2560x1440, 671K)

Not get pwned.
Use a recent version of a browser.

Connect it to the internet.

Run a good window manager.

I'd still be using it if it was viable.

Almost everything in my daily routine.

Use Visual Studio 2017

Play videogames from time to time.

send data to microsoft using telemetry

Have support for latest hardware

tiling

Have driver support for all of my components.

Use my nvme m.2 SSD.

it cant run windows 10.

>he doesn't modify .ini files to allow for compatibility
>he doesn't write his own drivers

You don't know what 'subjective' means.

linux subsystem

XP objectively has the best looking windows UI
Aero is a meme, the muddy transparency is boring. Anything before XP has an appearance similar to how dry biscuits taste. Win10 isn't even worth spitting on.
XP on the other hand has a great earthly feeling and coloring, a perfect match for the perfect default wallpaper that is aptly named bliss
btw clean your screenshot folder

browsing internet is not a good idea

everything else works

Use more than 12 gigs of ram at any given time without gaming.

Not get immediatly pwned by every skiddie with metasploit.

you are wrong

>Objectively
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Can't install chrome anymore.

>secure

If you need that extra security while you do drug trade or suck 12 y/o titties just leave phone and computer behind.

But user, he is OBJECTIVELY right!

>ha ha ha
>ha ha
>.... I'm so lonely

You have permission to try and prove me wrong.

Objectivity is based on its ability to be measured and proven, subjectivity is based on opinions and taste.

Your point then?

You're an illiterate fag.

This man is speaking the truth

XP x64 should be able to handle that.

It can't even hibernate if you have more than 4gb of ram, and even basic things like browsers don't support it.

I'm using XP 64-bit with Chrome 49 and New Moon 27. I don't use an anti-virus. I use streaming and porn sites and sometimes forget to close popups. I don't do online banking but I do use PayPal.

I've had zero problems with viruses / malware / whatever.

There are one or two browsers that still support XP. How many people hibernate their computers deliberately. I've only ever experienced it when laptop batteries run too low.

>How many people hibernate their computers deliberately
>confirmed for basement dweller
Everyone that needs to go out?

>XP objectively has the best looking windows UI

Yeah, if you mean the Windows Classic theme.

Wrong, retard

Cortana vs Paperclip

Create file paths longer than 255 characters.

Use my USB3.1 ports and nvme disk.

I either shut down my computer, put it to sleep, or just leave it running.
No, that's what he was referring to here:
>Anything before XP has an appearance similar to how dry biscuits taste.

Get all my activity tracked and sold to thirds.
Have a terrible UI with toddlers in mind that makes your eyes fall sleep of boredom with a million adds and electron tier apps.
My favorite though, you cant get bothered by shitty updates that only ruins your night and your computer, freezing your OS on the password screen and forcing you to restore, ruining another night in the proccess.

Trully an outdated experience.

The best Windows theme is and will always be the classic theme.

Makes me mad that Windows 8 didn't have it.

Open Terminal.

Run most programs.

Post a screenshot.

Might I ask you how you installed it? I got the ISO from Microsoft's website but it seems like Rufus won't recognize it as a bootable ISO, so I can't put it on a USB.
I also tried with unetbootin but that did nothing either.

>windows theme on linux ever
Cringe.
Windows classic belong on Windows or WINE
At least try something like Nextstep or CDE ffs

With a CD and the SATA driver on a floppy disk so it runs in AHCI mode. Yeah it doesn't work with Rufus, unfortunately. I emailed the developer 4 years ago and asked if he'd consider making it work. He said he wouldn't because it's too old and was never all that popular.

dx12

isn’t the 32 bit version of XP so dead that chrome doesn’t even work on it?

The last time Chrome was released for XP was with version 49 in April 2016. If I'm not mistaken it was the first of the major browsers to drop support.

Besides, you can't really say that it's "dead", at least not when it holds a higher install base than MacOS and Linux.

>shut down my computer,
>just leave it running.
Prehistoric solutions

>put it to sleep
Both sleeping and hibernation cause nothing but errors on XP

>Both sleeping and hibernation cause nothing but errors on XP
Got any sauce for those claims?

The Luna theme is so ugly user

Every time I used XP I used the Windows Classic theme because it looked so bad

Use the latest version of software

Oh look, another thread full of kids too young to have watched the MicroCycle Winfucked show over and over. Here's a tip: XP sucked.

Microsoft has been doing this cycle for years where they'll make a mediocre OS, then when it's too long in the tooth to bother with anymore, they'll start work on their next mediocre OS but in the meantime they'll dump a bunch of money on a total disaster, failed abortion, dumpster fire of an OS so that when they release the mediocre OS you all think it's fucking magical because you're comparing it to the pile of shit that had infuriated you for the previous year or so.

Example: win 3x started getting old and stale, so they release Win95... Pretty mediocre, but it was shiny and new. Then comes 98... Total dumpster fire. Microsoft swoops in and saves the day with 98SE. Then comes Me (skipping 2k because that was primarily aimed at the NT users rather than average consumers) and it's fucking terrible. Disgusting, vile trash. Oh look, here's XP to save you! The world rejoices. Then comes Vista... So fucking hated that they literally had to trick people into using it by pretending it was a whole new OS when the service packs came along and made it somewhat useable. Hereeeee's SEVEN. Much rejoicing once again. Then comes Windows 8/8.1, another dumpster fire. Microsoft rescues the world again with 10! Huzzah!

XP is mediocre at best. But anything was better than Windows Me.

>why not ReactOS

Use the terminal
Inb4 DOS

I like it. Everyone has different taste. At least there was the option to use the classic theme in XP.

Most things in Windows are done via the GUI (and that's a good thing). Command prompt and Powershell handle everything else.

There are so many viruses for XP it's crazy. I used to get them all the time when I ran XP. On W10 you don't really get viruses just assorted spyware.

Command prompt sucks
PowerShell also sucks
T. PowerShell automation engineer for 7 years then got lucky enough to be moved to linux division

What do you like about it user? I'm just curious to see another point of view about this

The cycle isn't deliberate, if that's what you're implying. Microsoft's OSes tend to start out mediocre and become more reliable and compatible over time. XP reached the peak of its popularity in early 2007 when Vista was released. Vista being such a pig only meant that people were going to use XP for longer. 7 is Vista Second Edition, so computers that couldn't run Vista well weren't much better with 7.

XP probably makes the best active directory domain client too. It's very easy to deploy and manage, lock down so nobody breaks it, etc.

All commands lines suck. That's why a good GUI is so valued.

Use more than 4GB ram without crashing the fucker.

I like the blue and the texture of it, and the white text. The like the size of the text and the window buttons, and the way the taskbar buttons look. The like how the system tray is a lighter shade of blue. I like how it goes with the bliss wallpaper as well as the blue XP one, and even the blue colour with no wallpaper. I like how it doesn't try to be all fancy like Aero, yet has a professional and friendly look about it. I could probably go on like this. Above all I think I just like things from the late '90s / early 2000s era more than things from the last 10 years or so.

>ReactOS
Literally a project the R￸u￸s￸s￸￸i￸a￸n￸s created for finding 0-day exploits.

You objectively don't know how to use the word objective. You're giving opinions and calling them objective, when opinions not based on facts are inherently subjective.
You're objectively a retard.

*snap*

t. CIA Nigger

Avoid the blaster worm.

Unix tools. GPU accelerated GUI. Package manager.

But besides, yeah, Windows barely advanced since NT4.0

Your mom

>GPU accelerated GUI
Not like that's actually needed, XP is light weight as fuck.
Tried running it in a VM recently, could even run games, no pass-through required, makes me wonder why everything is so bloated now.

I get screen tearing :

>Everyone has different taste
Wow really?

play titanfall

Can't you just up the refresh rate?
It's what I do, 144 and it's just about nonexistent.

That's a feature

No everyone likes the same thing you do. If they say they don't they're obviously lying, and it's your job to convince them otherwise. Extra points if you call them a faggot and accuse them of being from plebbit.

>GPU accelerated GUI
Not only does XP have a GPU accelerated GUI, it's also significantly more efficient than later Windows versions. Vid related:
youtube.com/watch?v=ToFgYylqP_U

It's an old video, but it's still pretty much the same shit, even on W10. Scroll up and down in Explorer and you'll see high CPU use. Doesn't happen on XP.
(To be fair, the new rendering mode does have some advantages as well, but only in rare cases.)

guis are shit for automated task though
ideally an os should be completely gui based like windows but also allow power users to fuck around with command line and scripts

That's exactly what Windows is

SSH into another computer from the command line.

Attached: 1529318496975.jpg (1024x768, 101K)

Except the command line part of windows is shit

No, user. It's objectively one of the best looking. XP/Vista/7 - the golden age of Windows UIs.

Go an entire day without the operating system interrupting me with some bullshit auto-update, bluescreen, or system software crashing.

How exactly?
Auto updating is for plebs, and if your computer is crashing hard at least once a day it's not Windows' fault.

Ctrl+Windows Key + left or right arrow

>I got the ISO from Microsoft's website
Link? tried a few searches, but all I get is 3rd party shady sites.
