I doubt the git integration matches Magit in Emacs. Don't know about Markdown preview, but yeah, it's supposed to be readable plaintext anyway and Org mode is a league above Markdown.

Just because it's readable in plaintext, doesn't mean much. You still want it to render correctly when someone is viewing it on Github or wherever.
