Vis(not vim), mpv, vimb.

I use everything but vis. personally it really doesn't look like it would satisfy my needs. Do you have your dotfiles uploaded somewhere?

Window manager:
> running X
i3 or whatever meme is on Jow Forumsunixporn this week
> not running X
tmux or screen

Terminal:
urxvt, xterm, st, xfce4-terminal, whatever. if you're running X it's bloat anyway

File browser:
anything with miller columns. ranger is fine.

Music player:
mpd + mpc

ect:
offlineimap + msmtp + mutt for handling multiple mailboxes
vim (you don't need 90% of the plugins you think you do)
w3m or lynx or any other text-based browser. xlinks or qutebrowser if you're running X

i'm emerging right now
from my pants

Are you me?

Is bloated and buggy shit.

Let me guess you use st?

You guessed correctly, but before that I used termite.
And I did that because urxvt was really bad with selecting fonts, had some terrible bugs with XFT and was generally pretty bad.

Slower than feh. Every solution I tried is slower than feh.
That also the reason I don't have sxiv.

terminal: st but more usually the default tty

What programs do you use for reading pdfs in the terminal?

Have fun getting nothing done.

could never really understand this minimalist meme.
I like to use cli for my file manager/text editing/system configuration needs but why would anyone voluntary use ugly ncurses software like ranger, cmus, etc. is beyond me.

I honestly think it's better looking than regular FMs.

Minimalism is a meme.

there's the problem, right there

Stig+transmission-daemon for torrents, tmux+znc+weechat for IRC, pianobar for Pandora, IINA for watching videos.

Fucking deal with it. I used Linux for 24 years exclusively until I got tired of always having to sacrifice features for freedom. I'd rather have the option to use commercial software natively on a machine that holds its value practically forever.
