The Botnet is Winning

>Gets given a laptop for free
>It runs on Windows 10
>Fuckthatshit.jpeg
>Looks at laptop case
>No ethernet port
>I want to install Linux damn it you slut
>Can't install Linux because no ethernet port
>Lets get an ethernet to USB adapter
>Looks on Amazon
>$30 for a fucking adapter

Has the botnet become so big that it has shut down Linux entirely? Is this the end of the Loonix?

But user, you can run linux inside windows! its just the same we swear!

buy a zip disquette

Why do you need an Ethernet port? Just use the wireless connection.
Worse thing with those new shitty laptops is the missing disc drive.

>Can't install Linux because no ethernet port
Are you retarded?

>Buy 2k laptop
>Linux runs like shit because Ms owns ACPI

It sux user

>disk drive
Is it 2008 again? No one needs a disk drive wasting all that space in a laptop, and anyone that does need it can buy a USB disk drive for $20

>>$30 for a fucking adapter
It's not passive adapter moron.
aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20180730080955&SearchText=ethernet usb
it's not $30 either.

>can't afford a $30 adapter
Use those Linux skills and get yourself a fucking job
>can't install Linux without an Ethernet adapter
Never mind, no Linux skills to be found. Carry on.

Guess I'm getting old, I like to have a ton of CDs with my distros and repair tools.

Yeah everyone uses USB flash drives for that instead. I have yet to encounter a PC made in the last 10 years that can't boot from USB
Shit even for older PCs you can load Plop boot on a CD or floppy and use that to boot into a flash drive

8000 IQ post

My PC (pic related) can.
(and its the only way i can reinstall the OS, because the drive is pretty much dead)

>cant install linux cause no eth port

Sounds like Windows fits you so much more.

>No ethernet port
is this one of those shitty netbooks?
I have one and even though I can install Lunix on it, it's mostly unusable, half of the chipset is not supported.
On the upside, it only works with the Windows 10 version it came with, every later version lacks drivers for a lot of stuff.

>can't install linux because no ethernet port
What the actual fuck is this. What the fuck does an ethernet port have to do with installing linux. All you need is a flash drive and a USB port, dipshit.

He probably needs to grab firmware blobs, without which his wireless nic won't work, but seriously, put them on a flash drive, copy them over, add module, ???, profit

I haven't had to do this in years. Distros like Ubuntu just werk out of the box

>linux too bad to even be installed

lmaoooo

You don't need any type of network connectivity to *install* the OS tho, even if it doesn't recognize your network adapters. And desu I'm really skeptical that a modern distro wouldn't recognize network adapters, never seen that problem since 2015.

Windows 10 LTSB is better for gaming ( higher FPS / lower latency )

youtube.com/watch?v=1Ud5di6ytrw#t=0m37s

197 fps vs 148 fps
3.60 ms vs 5.16 ms

They're totally recognized, it just requires nonfree blobs, which say Debian, which I run, doesn't have in it's install by default, many distros are like that. But yes, ubuntu would work out of the box, no question

Nobody cares

Why on earth do you need ethernet to INSTALL your os ?!
You don't need to do a minimal install and even if you do the live environment should see the adapters.
What model is it ?!

no-one has even mentioned games in this thread

>XPS 13, one of the best laptops on the market right now, just released a Ubuntu version

Age of the Linux Desktop is dawning, you missed it because you got a shitty old laptop.

Dunno, but with the same build of rpcs3 I got way better performance on 1803 than 1607 LTSB.

Probably due to improved Ryzen support.

You see that thing that says usb tethering?
Use it.

Yes sir, pls intall Windows 10, it's good sir see. Also, pls buy our new edition to haev a single build supported, which used to be the standard in older Bindoes versions. It's good my friend... Okay, thank you sir, have a good day.

this stick with winshit 10, you deserve it op

>given a functional modern laptop
>wants to ruin it with shitty software
Well now we know why you're poor.

Everyone in this thread feel for the bait
/thread

It clearly isn't

> >Can't install Linux because no ethernet port
Why?

Give it back Jamal

Install GNU plus Linux.

Why would you need Ethernet port to install Linux anyway?

this

You burn an ISO to a CD and it just works. Thumb drives? Mostly, but not always.

>year 2050
>pc infected by virus
>virus might the new one that in bios or some shit
>boot recovery from usb
>non read only media - virus copies itself to it
>...
>discarding dvdroms were a mistake.

Optical media still exist, and probably will exist in 2050

How does that invalidate what I said? It will exists. But nearly no one will be using it. Even today good part of laptops and even computers comes without cd/dvd roms.

>you need an Ethernet port to install Linux
What?

>Jack in the AI driven blackboxed assistant to analize and defeat the virus, with some manual guidance and input of specific blackboxed tools in chips
>The virus code itself either give you data to manufacture other of those chips, or you can sell it to a big corporation for a bit of money

this, I haven't used my disk drive on my laptop in the past 3 years of owning it. i just make live drives to install distros

I'm pretty sure everyone installs from USB.

pajeet my son
you dont need ethernet port to install linux. not even void linux requieres ethernet.

fucking this
how retarded are you OP?

>disk

I see what you did there

Just use a USB thumbdrive you retarded shitnugget

>need what is increasingly becoming a legacy port to install Linux
teh powa of open sores
