When will it die?

When will it die?

I haven't seen a GPU come with a VGA port in a while.

Probably at the same time DVD/CD drives die.

Almost already dead then

MOBO from 2016 :)

Long, long after you do.

screencap this

>buy modern GPU for multi monitor setup
>has one of each type of connector
>have to buy different cable for each individual monitor

when will you die?

Buying cables and not storing them or collecting them from thrift stores or from people tossing old equipment.

How fucking plebian of you.

There's no reason it should die. It's an open standard, a simple analog signal that can interface easily with custom hardware home made with discrete components, incompatible with DRM, works with a huge range of equipment, has sexcellent image quality and a fuckload of bandwidth - more even than dual link dvi. there has never been a better display standard and at the current rate there never will be.

Since when are people tossing displayport cables?

Never, fuck you.

HDMI/DP is preferable for high end displays but for applications like servers where size, resolution, color reproduction etc. don't matter VGA is simple and easy and it just fucking works.

When OP stops being a faggot.

Sometimes the hardest part is letting go.

It should have died when they stopped making CRT monitors.

When the hdmi part doesn't plug in

When a non-cucked, easy to interface with standard appear to replace it.

I still use it because my monitor only has 1xHDMI and 1xVGA. Would prefer another HDMI or a DVI port, but it does the job.

Never. It's the default input for every projectors in the work place.

obligatory post is obligatory

I don't get it.

t. Third worlder

I mean, it's basically dead on systems, from anything I've seen recently. But it just means I need an adapter because most projectors still use it. That's finally getting fixed, except now I need an adapter between DP and HDMI. So now I have 3 adapters.
Yes. This is so much better.
Also it will never die in the data center. Ever.

not wanting direct console access

why does it matter?

what difference does it make you?

Are you triggered by VGA or something?

signature faggot

Third world faggot

When corporate enterprises say so

Buy something other than a low tier GPU and you'll get an HDMI and 3 DP ports. The AIB may throw in a DVI for korean monitorfags.

HDMI is too delicate and can easily fry either the source or the display if unplugged while turned on. Fug that

not that same user though

just pointing out that you're cancer by signing your posts, pretentious cunt

When fucking boomer morons quit using DVI to VGA converters to hook up LCD monitors that have already have DVI

what fucking signature are you talking about?

Why should it die? It's great connector and heavily used in industrial spaces and servers. You plug in and it just works.

What brought you here?

he must have clicked the thread on the homepage

>incompatible with drm
Wtf would a cable compatible with drm look like?

>Wtf would a cable compatible with drm look like?
HDMI, DVI, DIsplayport. Basically anything digital that can have its signal encoded into something else only the source and display can understand

All newer projectors use VGA, VGA cables are cheap meanwhile HDMI cables cost $20 USD because everybody are gold-plated.

Attached: VGA_projector.jpg (1600x804, 169K)

>newer projectors use VGA
Maybe in your third world shithole. In the civilized world projectors have been using HDMI since 2009.

>HDMI cables cost $20 USD
Maybe if your an idiot that buys his cables from bestbuy.
Its not always cheaper anyway
Amazon 10ft VGA cable $ 8 99
Amazon 10ft HDMI cable $ 7 99

You know in theory, VGA can run a 16K screen at 200fps?
Sure it may look terrible, but can you name another standard thst can do this?
That is the advantage of vga and analog. There's no limit, you can be an absolute madman with it.
You can interface with it with no effort no converters or digital shit. It's fuckin analog bro.
It will never die, just get less relevant

never. due to the fact that it is based on analog signaling that can achieve a relatively high resolution with extremely generic drivers, it will always maintain at least some presence in the tech industry.

Even if it is just on the enterprise level for servers.

Now op, tell me why you hate it when it does nothing to hurt you.

Maybe terrible ones that use a lcd.
Real manly dlp projectors are usually all vga because fuck you.

thrift store cables - $1 a piece

>can you name another standard thst can do this?
Four 4K monitors in a 2x2 arrangement each driven by its own graphics card. It'll be expensive but it's possible.

>16K screen at 200fps
Good fucking luck trying to find a ~40ghz RAMDAC
