install gentoo

There's a foobar clone called deadbeef, works with foobar skins and stuff.

mpv works for videos, gifs, static images, and audio.

upgrade to mpd

Clementine > Audacious > foobar

>redditbarboomeryear
no thanks

This, Clementine is great for big libraries

Deadbeef

This. Just use $ find -type f -name '**' -exec mpv --no-video '{}' + to get a playlist of all matched files which you can navigate via keyboard bindings.

Clementine probably

Use deadbeef. It's very similar to foobar

sudo apt-get install snapd
sudo snap install spotify

>open up audacity
>record songs you want
>end up with better average quality than you can find through pirating the songs

if you want the complete og experience
here you go appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18689

>sudo apt install clementine
>library is easy to setup
>"wow this looks pretty cool"
>start music file
>cpu usage goes up to 30%
>find out people have this problem since 2011 and it was never fixed

and that's how i came to appreciate audacious and cmus

rm -rf /

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

On windows, it would be Musicbee. I did get it to run after really fucking with Wine for a while, but it crashed. So Clementine. So far though, the software offerings for music library management are fucking shit compared to Musicbee. The interfaces look like fucking shit, they are NOT customizable/skinnable to any degree, and they are too obsessed with having streaming music support, which I don't need.

Is musicbee customizable like foobar?

mpd+ncmpcpp

deadbeed

Don't bother with linux it's not good for audio

Not op but is there a decent beginners guide to all this? It's so confusing but I have to learn it

I'm not an audiophile, I just like my library well organized, automated lyrics and data, I never feel for the flac meme

Whadya wanna learn my fellow brainlet I might help

Bunch of slackjaw faggots in this thread

deadbeef is good but the undisputed king of linux music is the native linux port of JRIVER MEDIA CENTRE 24

fucking nothing else compares on linux if you have a few terrabytes of 24bit and DSD like i do... piping 5.6mhz DSD to my shanling m0 on my debian macbook air as we speak ... here try out the .deb

sudo snap install cringe

unironically vlc.
great at handling directories, huge playlists, creating/saving custom m3u or pls, retrieving album art, internet radio streams, and nice ncurses and rc interfaces if you care about that sort of thing.
also great system integration into most desktop environments

I still don't understand why this doesn't work
