UK, on Three with sim only plan. Pixel is nearing the end of its lifespan. Looking for a replacement. Had a Xiaomi redmi 3 pro previously which I liked, but none of the current range seem to have everything I want.

>The iPhone 5 design has been officially retired >No more 4" screen in the most perfect form factor ever created
Why the fuck did they do this. Not everyone is a woman or a third-worlder whose only screen is their phone. Some of us want something small that we can use to stay connected when we're away from our proper PC with a 24" screen, mouse and fucking keyboard. And from my understanding, the SE sold so well that Apple had initially underestimated the volume that they'd need, and the phone flew off the shelves faster than it could be manufactured.
Guess I'll have to go Android once my SE is completely beyond saving in a few years' time.
Owen Perez
Mate 9 pro maybe
Aiden Barnes
samsung only ever sold phones because it was iphone but cheaper now that nobody wants to even buy an iphone anymore, samsung is dead
Eli Price
Honor V10 is that except the screen is 5.99".
Dylan Bailey
Redmi 5 Plus or Huawei Mate 10 Lite? For video, music, and some light gaming purposes (the heaviest game I'll play is Hearthstone I guess)
Liam Watson
How exactly does blackberries Keyone and Key2 keyboard double as a trackpad? What kind of magic did they use?
Isaiah Bailey
Redmi 5 Plus. Bigger battery, faster SoC. Unlockable bootloader too, if you want to root or install custom ROMs.
Andrew Morris
Redmi is much cheaper, has a much bigger battery and has fast charging and I say that as a Huawei shill.
Anthony Roberts
Mate 10 checks every box other than the screen size (it's 5.9")

get the note 5 with the dual camera if the small price difference isnt a problem for you. better camera and better processor.
Jaxon Gutierrez
I see this garbage in every /spg/ thread, it's fucking disgusting seeing these self-cucking anons and handlets complaining about a screen being 5" or more.
large phones can't fit in my pants, its annoying as fuck when you run races too
Jace Miller
why are you running with a phone in your pocket user?
Chase Jenkins
because my se is light and small enough where its negligible, plus I can stream the jre off youtube too
Owen Green
They probably bitch about big phones because that's all that's available. Sure, I would agree that they're faggots if most phones were big but there were still a reasonable (between 4 and 10) number of compact options. However, if you wanted something smaller than 5", your choices were
>Apple >Sony
And that's it. Now that Apple is getting rid of their only compact phone, there's only one choice left (and none if you prefer iOS), which is not exactly great if you're an advocate for consumer choice. Personally, I use a Galaxy A5 and I think it's the perfect size, but if you are of the opinion that the 4" screen was the optimal smartphone screen size, I can see why you might be upset with the current state of affairs. As for seeing more on a screen, I personally prefer it that way, but there's a tradeoff for that: the phone is going to take up more space in your pocket and will be heavier. I am kind of inclined to agree that the 6"+ phones we've been seeing a lot of are kind of stupid, unless you have a purse to carry them around in.
Christian Jones
It's not even that I care, personally, it's just that the market is obviously moving away from small screens and all these little whiny bitches are complaining that phones are too big for them. >phones being too big is the problem No, i'st's your shitty taste that contrary to market trends that's the problem. When tech works and is well adopted, it continues to move in that direction.
Buy another iPhone 5 if it's the perfect form factor, dig up an Xperia X2 if it was the best phone ever made, and fuck off with these dumb questions with no satisfying answer
Owen Scott

Is there any difference between the Redmi Note 5, Redmi 5 Plus and something called a Redmi Note 5 5.99" ? All of these seem to sport the same specs and are 'global' versions compatible with my countries LTE network according to Amazon reviews, but prices vary quite a bit and the reviews I've seen contradict each other
Or even better, is there a comparable phone that is a little smaller? I do like the battery, ~180 price and the unlockable bootloader, but it's just a tad too big for my taste. Any replacement would need to support LTE 20, too
Julian Collins
What's the /spg/ phone of choice?

Will wireless charging kill my battery faster because of the heat or is it just broscience?
Nathan Wilson
Redmi Note 5 = Snapdragon 636 and dual rear camera, Redmi 5 Plus = SD625 and single rear camera. It gets a bit confusing because in India the SD636 version is called Redmi Note 5 Pro, and Redmi 5 Plus is Redmi Note 5, and many websites use the Indian naming scheme.

Oh, you're talking about Galaxy Note, not Redmi Note. But you should get a Redmi Note 5.

What are the pros/cons of Miui? Thinking about a redmeme 5 plus but would like to stay closer to stock this time.
Elijah Rodriguez
Anyone here bought redmi 6a? I want a secondary/private phone since my S4 is dead and I want something with 4g lte that I could take video for my youtube channel and general shitposting/porn browsing (something I'd never do on my company phone)
literally the farthest away you can get from stock as possible has a bunch of annoyances, a bunch of features, but most importantly they use a stupid naming scheme that allows them to continue releasing major MIUI versions without ever updating your actual android version - so shit gets wonky android messages or textra
Jacob Cooper
Well, I bought a phone that happens to have it, might as well make use of the tech. Will it fry/kill my battery faster in the long run or not?
Josiah Myers
Oh, meant OutOfTheBox stock, not Android stock.

>iphone 10 wallpaper I would recommendd a used LG G5 unironically. I have one as my second device. It is a semi-modular design, dual cameras (one with a wide apperature), 4GB of RAM (more than you need for anything these days), optical image stabilization, laser auto-focus, LTE CAT 4, fast CPU (can max PUBG Mobile @1440p), has a 1440p screen, costs less than 150 US or 120E, has SD expansion, has replaceable battery, has replaceable battery, has camera and battery upgrades, has replaceable speakers. I can go one.
oh boy android game pc ports what a future we are in oh joy I am going to go out and buy this phone right now because it MAXES PUBG FUCK YES RIGHT NOW RIGHT NOW.

Is there any reason not to buy an S9? How is it if you just disable bloatware apps and use a custom launcher?

It is the Ashes of android right now and the most demanding game, it was a case for the performance of the G5, not an argument for why PUBG is a quality game.

How shady are ebay resellers? I'm looking for the best way to buy an unlocked S9+ and I found someone selling them "new" for $650 + shipping. Is it worth spending an extra $200 to just buy it from my carrier?

I have never had an Xperia phone before and I am about to buy XZ2. However I just realized >pic related is a thing.
PLEASE for the love of God tell me this shit can be turned off or disabled without using a different launcher.
Thats a very good question. I dont remember anyone mentioning that shit before but i assume nearly everyone here just installs nova or a fdroid launcher.

Requesting purchasing advice >country USA >what carrier Verizon, Android >features No retarded ass notch Long battery life Wireless charging Fast charging - fast wireless charging isn't required Android 8/9 support and/or supported by LineageOS >budget size ~5.5"?
Current phone is a Motorola Droid turbo 2. All in all happy with it, just dissatisfied with the lack of support. + Great screen Good camera Good battery life - 4-6hrs screen on time or 1.5-2days with WiFi, BT,and GPS all on, streaming Pandora to my car stereo for 1.5hrs/day & 1 he light browsing/day Wireless charging Fast charging Motorola launcher is super snappy
- No more software updates - still not patched against meltdown/spectre. Android 7 is the last version for this phone. Motorola just stops caring after 2 years Locked bootloader, no custom ROMs for me. Firefox is a bit slow loading pages.

it's me again, daily reminder than redmi note 5 4gb 64gb is the best. Also watch what you say to me as I can dig old thread and watch who is who. Xiaomi haters fuck off and amerifat can watch from distance if your outdated low tech carrier can't support our chad chinkphones.
Hey can you tell your marketing team to put band 28 into the redmi phones? Seriously its fucking aggravating to have to not buy these phones because of lack of 4g coverage.
Owen Adams
The fact remains that no android maker can hope to compete with a trillion dollar company.
I have had an S7 for the past couple years and always used it with a case.
I never drop my phone, so I was wondering if it's safe to use it without a case?
I'm mostly worried about the back glass getting scratched.
It spends most of its time on my desk at work or at home.
Chase Long
Glass is harder than most things, so it's unlikely to get scratched, but without a case you're far more likely to drop it because of how slippery it is unless you hold your phone with a death grip at all times.
Jayden Gutierrez
As a consumer, I just don't care. Trillion dollar market cap or not, their product isn't doing it for me.
