I called freeware all those that are free-as-in-beer (compared to the rest that are foss) and completely functional (don't lack vital features). It will be more proper to call it shareware because running as free lacks autorun and multiple boxes. Same with TeraCopy which lacks export and editing file lists or Mathcad Express which is Mathcad itself lacking features but remaining indefinitely free of charge.

Guys, I just installed CCleaner a few days ago but uninstalled it and replaced it with Bleachbit after I learned about how much of a problem it could be.

I don't see the logic though, as a lot of Jow Forums seems to use speccy which is also distributed by Piriform. I already know it's stupid to defrag a system, all I ever used it to do was wipe my browsers.

Anyway, have I already fucked myself over by installing it in the first place? I always do a hard refresh by wiping and reinstalling the OS, but this might expedite things.

Only if you're a complete autist user. Piriform has been bought a few years ago. CCleaner has also been reported to be compromised by chinks with a Trojan (fucking google it). So take that as you will.

I knew about the compromise when I installed it. Also checked, the registry, no signs of compromise. That was fairly long ago, and they seem to have fixed the issue, but I switched to BleachBit because I don't trust CCleaner's active search feature and/or its updates. CCleaner is a paid service, though, so I can't help but feel their fix was at least effective.

I'm such a moron, man. Oh well, I guess there's nothing to do but wait until the inevitable assfucking and then reinstall the OS when that happens.

Use the winapp2.ini cleaning rules with Bleachbit and it is just as good as CCleaner (except it doesn't clean latest Chromium good, check the dev builds)
