For music: Maybe foobar2000 since it also includes the ability to go to any point in your playlist. Every other music player I've used doesn't have this ability for some reason

In my opinion other players have none really. VLC comes with most Linux distros OOTB and does a good job at playing media for the average user. Only people obsessed with graphics/audio use other players really.
